    What Fuel Lines?

    Hi guys,

I want to tidy up my fuel lines on my 1.8t, you can see them running to some pipes I made up at the bulkhead -

I would like to put some nice braided lines in but having priced up the pipe and fittings it works out very expensive.

My question is, when is it necessary to use fancy hose with AN fittings?

Can I use a push-on type hose with flared hard lines?

The stock fuel pressure is 4 bar.

I want to run lines from the fuel rail to either just under the car or just below the brake fluid reservoir.

    Let me know your thoughts

it's not cheap but its worth it and finishes the engine bay off nicely! Cost be about £80 from speedflow i think.

Agreed, they look the absolute nuts. But it would be almost £80 just for the hose, let alone the fittings. I would need about 4meters of hose I reckon to get them so the joints are hidden out the way, plus around 6-8 fittings.

Im wondering if I can do something that looks reasonable that wont cost a fortune.

naaaaah -6 is only £17.58 per meter...2 max you'll need!

Then 2 tube nuts for the hard lines, 2 straight -6, possibly 2 bosch fuel rail adaptors then what ever you need to fix to them. so 8 fittings...

if you do it, dont by the cheapy ones, they break.

Hmm this sounds tempting, let me know what you have.

I reckon it would be more than 2 meters (1 per line) to get to the fluid res?! Maybe not much more mind.

            Correct, I would need:

            1 x M14 x 1.5 to 6AN adaptor
            3 x straight male 6AN fittings
            2 x hard-line to 6AN adaptors

The return from the fuel rail is just a push on barb type fitting.

£80 is still a fair old chunk, I was trying to think of something for around half that.
