RS2 Cam shaft Value thread - locked... Why?

'This thread will be locked, for sale rules'

I thought this was an interesting thread that was simply discussing the value of the cam - why was the thread locked? It was not being dicussed in the for sale section.
I think you should unlock the thread due to the fact that no item was actually for sale...it was simply a discussion about the value of an item...

      I agree.

Think Acid burn was having a laugh suggesting he can get supply them for 150 quid, that's more like what 7A cams fetch.

I was hoping it would turn into a discussion on the pro's and con's of ADY, 7A, NM and re-profiled cams. With input from people actually running these items in non stock configurations.

Maybe we could discuss that here without mentioning what their worth and who has what for sale?

No thats actually what i've been offered them for a couple of times but people have told me why bother with them or 7a's and just use stock so I have done.

I was not offering them for sale.

Fair enough, as you well know 150 for RS2 cams is cheap.

I'm reconsidering using my NM set for the same reason as you, stock do the job just fine.

EDIT- And, no my NM set is not for sale either. As I'm thinking of using them in my ghetto stroker build.

I had quite a few people saying to forget other cams on mine and in the end I used a set out a low milage aby I had after selling my 60ish k one's to another forum member, if i'd have known i'd have kept them for my own engine.

RS2/7A Camshafts... any similaritys regarding profile? I was sure that one of the cams are similar - possibly exhaust.

When it comes down to it RS2 and 7A/NM Cam shafts have very little in common in precise engineering terms. The RS2 exhaust cam is very different to any of the other OE options as it it timed up on an RS2 specific cam wheel, which is @ 12 degree's different to to the standard cam wheel. That figure is from memory so don't quote me on it down to the last degree. I believe the RS2 inlet is the same as an ABY/AAN/3B in regards to profile.

7A cam's offer higher lift (2MM) on exhaust, (1MM) on the inlet together with a degree of overlap, which is undesirable in all but the highest spec turbo engines. That said they are proven to work well in high revving/boost applications.

NM cam's have no overlap and are considered a good choice for medium power levels., they have 1mm more lift than standard with a little more duration.

There's lot's more precise info to be found by following this thread.
