    Vw polo Gti gear box

Got a problem with my fiends Polo.

Clutch was slipping so i offered to change it.

Got the old clutch off covered in gear box oil and the gear box input shat is slightly bent but the casing is ****ing cracked here there and every where.

    Leaks oil like a sive

Now the question is this car is a 2001 GTI 1.6.

The gear boxes are like rocking horse poo... would a 1.4 box fit?

    Many thanks James

Its a known problem with the gear boxes on them, the 1.4 box is as bad too. They are hard to find a good one too don't know about fitment thought.
Just some finishing touches to do now

Hi james, what has hapend is the rivets that hold the crown wheel onto the diff have broken off and smashed the casing, i've fixed two of these boxes by welding the casing to stop the oil leak and drilling out the old rivets and replacing them with a bolt kit supplied by a gearbox specialist for about 35 quid.

Let me know if you need the number for the bolt kit
