Had someone moaning at me for not confrirming through PayPal that I received an item. It seems unless I do this, the payment is not released to him even though it was debited from my account!
Seems a bit odd as it means the seller has effectively trusted me to pay after I have recieved the item whereas the opposite is usually the case.
Anybody heard of this?
Hmm.. can't be mine as I have regularly wasted money on things I don't really need over the last 10 years or so!
Basically, I purchased an item, paid immediately with PP, money disappeared from my account, received the PP confirmation. He sent item and I received. He asked me to confirm receipt of item which I did through the message service the day after I receieved. He has then contacted me again today to say that the money will not be released unless I confirm through my PP a/c that I received the item. Don't really monitor the PP a/c but having chcked there is a confirm receipt box against the payment!
Sort of goes against the principle of purchasing. You pay then you get the goods.
Well i've just checked, and PayPal do NOT provide an Escrow service, but most Escrow services DO accept PayPal, so that may be the delay. You'll just need to work with him and provide info if he needs it! (Just keep your personal details confidential remember!)
Just to clarify, and Escrow service is a company that acts as a middle man.
e.g... if i buy from you, you stand a chance of paying for nothing.... But the Escrow service holds your payment, tells me they've been paid, i send the item. You tell them you got it, they pay me, i tell you i';ve been paid! End of transaction!
Unfortunately, if you were paying by PayPal, there;s another fourth party involved!
You've got your goods, and you have proof you paid, so you are in the clear. He's sent the item, so he's in the clear. Whomever is holding the money is holding things up!
Personally, i'd assist him, as it is for the buyer's benefit, and at the seller's cost to Escrow!
Just my tuppence!
Mitch.
Thanks for the info!
It's definitely his end thats the problem as the money has gone and I have the receipt! It does appear to be this confirmation receipt thats holding things up. But as I was not aware of such a thing and he didn't have the courtesy to tell me he and was rude, he can wait!
Let him wait then!
He can't leave you negative feedback!
It's his beef with PayPal or whomever.
Your side of the contract is fulfilled.
(so is his, really...)
It's the middleman who's in his way!
Don't lose sleep over it, mate! What's he gonna do... come and get ya?
He'll have to go through 2 thousand of us lot first!!!
1999 on here would be queing up behind him to have a go!
Not particularly bothered other than the fact he was getting rsey and implying somehow it was my fault.
Genuinely never come across this before.
