I´ve never had a spare in any of my cars and never had a flat tire either in my 18 years of driving. But i do keep a small compressor that powers from the lighter. Maybe i´ll change my mind if it happens but it seems the probability is quite low on getting a flat.

Fish, the Swedish roadrecovery don´t deny you because you don´t have a spare wheel, so you can sleep undisturbed

@raccabuda - I did that once with a flat tyre as it as 2 miles to go till ridding ton services, Police gave me 6 points on an MWC code (I think it was that) and a £100 fine...

Carry a trolley jack in the boot; wheel(s) go under the car once off; axles stands if I'm going under or doing anything more than just removing/refitting a wheel; no spare.

I carry a full size spare and it looks brand new inc the tyre ! Never used it in 6 years ownership (probably get a puncture now )
Been on the lookout for a matching 17" Azev for spares till I realised it will not fit in the well

I don't use the standard jack as it looks pants, but my trolley fits just snug in that little recess under the boot carpet

I had a similar issue with an old 325 Coupe I had, the jack gave way and the car came crashing down, I tried to move my left hand away sharpish but the rear wheel arch slashed my hand....2 hours and 20 stitches later my hand was back in one piece, thankfully no deeper damage was done but the marks are all too clear to see now 10 years on.

What type of jack did you go for to replace the standard one? I have a trolley jack at home but could do with a good portable one too.....

My spare is staying in the car for peace of mind, plus 2 coupe jacks, not just because they are pants but because ive not check the 16inch wheel will foul my front calipers or not yet.

Always good to make sure theres copper grease on the wheel / hub mating faces. If its seized on you dont wanna be trying to kick it loose while its on a skinny jack!

What I don't get is that people who blow a car, caravan or trailer tyre don't just keep going steady on the hard shoulder 'til the next exit?

"I'll just stop here on the hard shoulder and sit in the car because it might damage my new car, caravan, trailer alloy."

That's right, you sit there and wait for those professional tired/drunk/foreign/multiple murderer trucker types to come over that rumble strip!

I've told my Mrs, if she ever has a flat she keeps going til the next junction, emergency pull in or bit of wide grass.

I am convinced later ABY cars had a larger spare wheel opening, a stock Avus wheel with 215 rubber will not fit into my CQ20v.

I was glad of my Avus 16" when I had a sidewall giveway on the A38 at 5am on a wet Wednesday in February.

I got a bit damp but was on my way inside 15 minutes of stopping.

The strange thing was the sidewall had completely gone but I stopped because I thought the back box had fallen off, the only sensation was a steady BOOM BOOM BOOM sound, the car was still steady as a rock at errrm....speed.

The only thing that seems to fit in the coupe spare wheel well is a stock size tyre so I have an avus 16 with a 215 on it, I couldn't get a 225 in there. A space saver would be good but I wonder if it would fit over the porsche brakes? The RS4 has a puncture repair kit lol
