    Audi 80 Cab 1.8 Engine Swap 2.8

I just managed to pick up an 80 cab with a blown engine not too sure whats wrong with it and dont really care had a 1.8 cab years ago and it was slooow. Really I only wanted it for parts but it got me thinking I have a 80 2.8 quattro lying around with a couple of problems but the engine is good. So how much work would be involved? Would the 2.8 bolt onto the 1.8 gearbox? The 2.8 is the AAH engine.
    Cheers Guys.

im biased as i never see the point in doing an egine transplant to build something readily available from the factory. Personally i would be inclined to sell the 80q and fund an 18t engine swap into the cab.
To answer the question, yes the 2.8 will physically fit however you will need to trasnfer the whole front end from the 80q, source a 2wd gearbox and a v6 2wd exhaust.

I understand what your saying and I had the 2.8 advertised on here with no intrest at all. As it is I have a 80q 2.8 with 2 broken windows and a few small problems and a 80 cab with full heated leather projector headlight ect but no engine. Would rather use what I can from the 2.8 instead of scrapping it.

If I go ahead with the swap I would need the engine mounts.

Does the v6 not bill straight up to the 4 cylinder box? I know the 5potter do. Ultimately if you have a full car the conversion won't be too difficult.

Yes I have a full cab with blown engine and a full 80q with 2 smashed windows. I know this isnt the normal swap people would do but as I already have the bits why not.

I'm almost sure the cabby gearbox has the double bolt pattern so the V6 should be a straight fit in that department.
