    Audi 100 S4 advice

    Evening gents.

Currently on the lookout for an ABY S2 coupe, but they're a bit thin on the ground within my price range (sub £4k) and within traveling distance of my location.

This - http://www.gumtree.com/p/cars-vans-m...vant/101182499 - has appeared locally, and looks a hell of a lot of car for the money, but I've never really looked into these before.

I do have a couple of road trips this year where I'll be hauling both friends and goods so an avant would come in handy. So I was thinking maybe I buy this and run it for a year, or as long as it takes for my ideal S2 coupe to come up.

What I'm asking is how do these compare and is it worth me going for one of these as a stop-gap while I wait for an S2 (currently own a 4-pot coupe )

I just bought an engine out of one of those for my coupé, suppose you could keep it for spares once you get what you want

        IMHO, buy it, great cars.

If the text of the ad is correct, you’ll be fine, and at that money, you can’t lose.

Naturally check out the actual car itself, but on initial / superficial glance looks worthwhile.

The UrS4 is a great car, I ran a 94 saloon for 2 years at the same time as having my S2. It never failed to amaze be how quick it was ( Homefried ) and how well it handled for such a big car. Mine had Bilsteins and Eibach springs, ride was nice and supple, unlike S2 Bilsteins, but you could still throw it around. The boots are enormous and the seats are really comfortable.

For £1700 you can't go wrong, I bought mine from a forum member for £1500, ran it for 2 years and sold it on to another forum member for £1500. It's still going strong today as far as I know.

Looks good. If it was LHD I'd buy it in a heart beat at that price and import it to Canada.

Almost all the C4 UrS issues are well known will solutions (many DIY) available. Lots of info resources that I can put you on to should you need them.

Rare to see a 93 with a 6 spd AND the non-airbag sport wheel. CF trim was typically std on the 93 S4s.

              Not here it isn't.

              @quattrostyle I disagree

@Sidrick Just buy it. That one looks pretty tidy and unmolested! At the risk of being slated I prefer mine to the S2. They're great cars, fully loaded with goodies and cheap. They handle great and are much happier at high speed than the S2. You could spend the rest of your £4k budget modifying it! :mischeif:

I thought it looked good the second I saw the ad, and the forum have swung it for me. I'm waiting to hear back from the seller. I do really, really want a coupe though.

Go and have a look at it.

They are nice cars, better cruiser than the s2, can still hustle nicely, heavier, but they have a bigger footprint. Much nicer to sit in, more spacious.

Have a real good look underneath that one, get the V5 document No, or the MOT No. and use it to check the MOT history online to find out how long it has been up North. Check the wheels for cracks. (As well as all the usual car stuff)

My dads last one was from up north and everything underneath was rusted solid and had to be cut off if you wanted to change anything, complete nightmare.

In the middle of my ES2 clone project I came across a nice UrS6. It has the most comfortable seats I have ever sat in. Using it now as my DD & enjoy spanking the occasional Camaro or Mustang. It came with H&Rs, Koni shocks & a chip of unknown origin. The only modification I have done is a 3" turbo-back exhaust from 2Bennett & SS brake lines. It looks good & goes like stink. If it checks out I would buy it.

Buy it, has a six speed and leather which is a bonus. At the very least go and drive it, they are loveable big things

Atleast the price of the used UrS is way 3x cheaper.I can find the UrS4 at that price range as you can be seen in UK but the overall conditions isn't worth for investment tho, reliable, durable, strong engine, superb interior, moderate suspension no wonder why i skipped M-cars.

Buy it. Wish I still had the urs4 still. But I have the a6 tdi c4 Quattro. Basically the same but with better mpg. Avant is by far better to look at and is very useable.
