    Insurance loons strike again

    Ok a little background:

Had the S2 insured with sky for the last 2 years circa £600 with 9 years no claims decent cover all good.

Last year purchased a T4 for work to replace golf, 1 years no claims available for this, cheapest price £1400 "the no claims where not earned on a commercial vehicle so are of limited value" so I'm told.

S2 had to come of the road over the winter as the insurance for the T4 work horse was far more important.

    Present day:

I how have 2 years no claims on the T4 and 9 Years on the S2, Admiral and Aviva come back with multi-car quotes for the s2 and the T4 for Circa £1300
That is with business use on the t4

The t4 on it's own is still £1400

I'm now convinced they just make it up as the go along.

Looking forward to having the 2 back on the road very soon but I just can't work out there logic?

Farbeit for me to defend an insurance company but I am guessing that their logic is something like this:

    1. If they insure both vehicles with individual unlinked policies, the "system" automatically assumes that both vehicles are driven full time (statistically speaking) and, therefore, the risk is high for both vehicles. As a result, the premiums are high.

    2. HOWEVER, if the two vehicles are tied together via a single policy, the "system" knows that you can't be driving both vehicles at the same time so, based on some statistical split between the commerical T4 use and the recreational (non-work) S2 use, the risk levels go down for both vehicles. As a result, the total premium is much lower than the two individual policies.

BUT that is just a guess.

I can see the logic there as I'm the only driver on both vehicles, i tried to drive both at the same time and let me tell you it ain't easy
But it effectively saves me money by insuring both!

I just think if something is to good to be true then it probably is and I'm defiantly not used to getting a good deal from insurance companies

I phoned around quite a bit for mine recently and found for me the best quotes came from Adrian Flux and A-Plan.

If you phone through make sure you quote S2forum.com as the club with Sky, Adrian Flux, Chris Knott etc.

I've just gone through a similar dilemma with Aviva for the daily hack, a 406 hdi on a Y plate. The renewal quote came in at £465 fully comp, 32yrs young with 6yrs no claims, eh you kidding me we pay the same for my Mrs 56plate A4 TDI S Line. Bit of haggling and they rattled it down to just over £350 which I was pleased with as the cheapest quote from Go F*uck yourself, sorry Compare and all the other insurance comparison sites had figures of £500 plus :corey:
