    Avant fuel line replacement

    Hey guys

Having checked some old posts it isn't clear but is there a guide on how to change the petrol lines on an avant? Have found a leak on mine near the filter end under the rubber clamp. How do I do the front end of the car? Is there a joint near the bulk head at lower end of engine bay anywhere?

Next thing, how much are the lines?

    Cheers
    Chris

surely it's the same principle as the coupe? Use wade connectors just before it goes up into the engine bay. If you want to do the lines in the engine bay, you really need the engine out.

As for costs, the copper-nickel lines cost me about £50 to do the entire car (All 3 lines from tank to engine) but if you do that you need to do custom braided lines as getting the VAG flair on the ends is pretty hard to get! should be cheaper if you're only doing the under car section

Cheers bud. So how do you get the vag flair on them?

Cheers bud, so how do you get the vag flair? Basically I only have hand tools hehe? And is this at both ends of the pipe?

I have seen some sort of clamps used... Willis ones? I assume these join the pipe on the car where you chop the old line ( where it goes up by the bulk head) to the new line under the car? If so where do I get them? And what size solid pipe do I need and where's good to get it from? Do any of these need to be flared?

@Christophski, I've got roll of the correct cupro nickel tubing and Wade connectors to tackle this very task. Drop me a pm if you would like to buy them.

Does anyone know what diameter line this requires? Also, is it a double or bubble flare used on the fuel line?

8mm diameter and I *think* it's a bubble flare that is used at the unions IIRC.
I'd need to check the type of flare to confirm that.
