Great explanation of the Quattro diff lock

    Found this.......

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1991-AUDI-...#ht_500wt_1203

Quote "it has constant 4wd but has a rear wheel drive button which puts it into lock diff from standstill and auto changes to 4wd as you change gear from 1st to 2nd (pretty cool)"

    Cheap car for someone maybe!

I had a B3 80 16V Q and it did 4 years of forestry track ragging and snow fun - passing each MOT without a problem! Quality cheap fun.... Rare beasts now though

permenant 4 wheel drive from reverse through to 5th if in not mistaken, or 6th if its had a gearbox change LOL!

diff locks are the **** by the way for you lads that havent had one, in our northern snow my old URS4 was un stoppable even with snow drifts upto the top of the wheels and 235 45/18 tyres, juddered, understeered and was on my way 287 miles home without a problem again

Speak to acidburn, he got a quote for a lot less than that to rwd a 6 speed box for your old car.

If you just want rear wheel drive take the
Centre diff and weld it up, remove front driveshafts,
                Job done. Costs funk all.

dont forget to leave some old outer CV's in the hubs to keep the bearings intact!

                  weld it, its simple,

Does the center torsen be a normal 50:50 when welded and 4wd in use?
