    Insurance...it just showes you!

so my renewal was up,got a reminder through the door and the new renewal price....

    £954 Fully Comp with Amiral

I am 31,have 13 years no claims and live in a low crime zone area.

I shopped around and did the whole price comparison thing and the best i got was £405 from Elephant. This was with all mods declared, zorst, paint job, brakes, tints etc and obviously behing a left hooker this too pushes it up.

So I had a cold call from Admiral saying "have you recieved your renewal pack and happy and wish to proceed....."

Well, poor lad on the other end didn't know what to say, particuly as I told him that I knew both companies had the same underwriters!

"Can I put you on hold and come back sir?"

Another guy comes back and runs through my details...."oh yes sir,we can match that"

When I asked how come there was over 50% difference I was informed that they had "updated" their system.

It feks me off as I would of had to of paid monthly, and had I not kicked up a fuss I would of been left with a whopper bill which is totally wrong with my age+no claims.

So it just shows kids, you need to dig a bit! I managed to pay up front for a full year so now thats it for another 12 months

Admiral are famous for this ive been with them for 5 years now for the S2 and every year they try to hike up my quote and fail. I dont understand why they try to rip off existing customers they should look after them

Every year I change insurance providers for the wife and get it much cheaper than staying with the existing company. Always pay outright so they don't have dd details on file and automatically renew which they like doing aswell despite phoning them and cancelling.

I had this with Sky last year who you'd think would be reasonable people, being forum sponsors & all that.
Whenever you're dealing with insurance companies you just need to always remember they are all thieves

I had this recently bud, my insurance came in at over £1000 and after searching around I have managed to get it for £600 still with the same company I was with last year who worked out a bit cheaper than everyone else. And I only managed to get the £600 off with them because I kept threatening to leave and go elsewhere

tesco bank was the cheapest i found for me and the wife on our mk3 astra gsi, half the price what elephant wanted even though ive been with them for years and insured on the astra for the last 8 month with them which was no extra cost than our previous renault scenic!!
cant complain with lancaster insurance though, they are spot on.

Admiral and Elephant are the same company group. Elephant target younger and more performance cars which is why they give different quotes.

Renewals ALWAYS go up, I wish people would learn to ignore them!!
Its literally to take advantage of lazy people who just renew without shopping round.

I wish I had a quid every time I read a "got my renewal and its gone up" thread!

I was with Kwik fit £440 last year £1000 this year, went to Aviva for £305 or £320 paying instalments best price around. The key is just to shop around every year as JP said.

makes me laugh, accidents down 11% on the year and they say premiums have to increase because of an 18% increase in injury claims over the same period. just like the rest of Britain, the whole f**king thing is broken.

I got a letter through from my current insurer telling me for my piece of mind they had automatically renewed me....and charged me £30 renewal FEE - WTF that should be a line item on the invoice as 'Pure margin'

I hate anything related to finance, pensions, banking, insurance, tax - all thieving, overtly complicated and broken that screw over the joe public.

Just renewed the S2, was with Chaucer via Adrian Flux, last year was £360.00.
This year, went via a local broker and we're again with Chaucer, exactly the same T&C's & details.... £248.00...

I shall be chasing further discounts... As Andy says, it just shows you!
