    v8 into b3 coupe

ive tried the search and not found the answers i need...
a friend is after a v8 in his 2.8v6 coupe quattro and were trying to find out whats what before he goes and buys an a8/s8..

so are the s8 motors different in size to an a8 4.2? do they both mount the same?

can abs and brake master cylinder be left in situe?

im assuming the stock 2.8 clutch will cope ok? its not going to be a drag or even track car just a weekend blaster sort of thing.

can the a8/s8 ecu be altered so that it runs correctly without the autobox? i understand the crank position sensor needs a hole drilled in the box to fit or moved to the front...

got a welder and not put off by making engine mounts etc... i think we'll be doing the same as wab and mounting the engine to the subframe.. im assuming the standard oil cooler/filter setup can be kept when doing it that way??

finally... is there anything i may have totally overlooked lol

only thing is everyone seems to avoid using the oem ecu.. is this a tuning issue or immo and the lack of communication with the autobox?

Is your dash working? What have you done to show rpm's on the dash? Any interfacing done?

You can buy Ann immo and autobox delete chip from 034 to keep factory ecu, im sure someone this side of the pond has figured it out too. I seem to recall seeing a website a wjile back that was dedicated to fitting Audi v8s into kit cars.

You also need either a manual flywheel from an S8, or the 034 auto flexplate adapter.

Most people seem to relocate the oil filter due to the engine mount.

Sienna currently posts as Nollywood on Motorgeek, and has a pile of wiring diagrams. He is currently putting a v8 in an a4, I think he has deleted a lot of info from the old Sienna v8>a4 threads on motorgeek, dont know about here, worth a search first.

034 do the chip for the a8 ABZ to let the auto engine run without the autobox, and can also do an immobilizer defeat. PRJ might do it? He was doing things to an earlier v8 ecu.

I understand S8 ecus can be coded in vag com to run as auto or manual, but the abz cannot as it was never available as a manual.

Need to clearance the subframe or oilpan or both I beleive.

Some interesting ABZ ecu info here if you sift through the crap (regarding putting an abz into a fiero but using the factory audi ecu)
Hi i have picked the Audi 4.2 V8 for my fiero project the one part i am having trouble deciding on is the ECU should i buy the 034 chip or can one of you reprogram the ECU. I am using a 012 manual transmission i know it is not the best but for now it will do .

ABZ into an a4 on stock ecu
A few years ago I convinced my brother to trade in his old blazer for a 1999 A4 2.8L with quattro and a 5 speed. He loves it, and at this point the car has over 200k miles and he's also wanting a little more power. For $900 we found an 1999 A8 engine on ebay, from an auto recycler up in MA...

Well I figured I might as well record all my car work here as well and share some knowledge and fun stories with you guys. This will be a semi-street/full track car. I say semi-street becasue I will still drive it to the track in next year or two and occasianlly take it for a drive locally. It...

I figured I'd welcome my new car by jumping right into a project thread 8-) Here's the car, so far I'd say it was worth the 1k mile trip. I flew down to Atlanta Georgia on Friday and spent Saturday and Sunday driving back to CT. A couple of things about the car made the trip 'interesting'...

So, after 2 years of collecting parts and rebuilding the engine, it is finally time for me to start a build thread. Here goes, I have a 1991 Audi 80q that I have loved for 6 years now. When I bought it it had a warped head, so I completely rebuilt the engine from ground up and installed a 272...

                      I quite fancy doing one, given the price of a b3/4 quattro and an a8, what puts me off is;
                      s8 flywheel or 034 flexplate adapter $375
                      immobilizer defeat $150 (034)
                      auto defeat $550 (034)
                      wiring it in

As that suddenly racks up a fair chunk of cash if buying everything from 034!

I would assume that if you have the ecu sorted it should be the similiar to a 20vt swap etc, just picking up the right dash wires and fusebox?

although this is initially for a mate, i do intend on v8'ing my b4 80 saloon at some point...
tbh i wouldn't waste my time on a vr unless it was boosted and then for similar amount of work i'd still rather a v8, more so with boost
