Does anyone know what total/elfs high octane fuel is branded as on the pumps in France? I may not have the luxury of sticking to shell garages and v power for the whole trip.

No need to worry. Super Unleaded 98 is available almost everywhere ( albeit expensive ) no matter what brand you'll come across. "Total" stations are dominant all over the country and can be trusted.

yep agreed across france, Germany and Switzerland we found plenty of decent super unleaded. some of the 102 was excellent too...extended total tank range massively and it burbled away better than anything i'd ever run on the S2 previously or afterwards

you'll find good sp98 almost everywhere
avoid commercial center fuel to be safe during your trip
total, Elf, avi, shell, BP are all good for sp98, no stress
