    smoking S2 why?

    Hey Forum

Could someone help me find my S2 problem.

The problem is the car is smoking randomly and in interval of 30 sec.
It started when I changed the oil to Mobil M1 5w50 and we have now tried Castrol 10w/40 but no luck.
It’s also smelling of burned oil and similar to this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHXi7Yic8Vo

Car is stock only Vems ecu 1,5 bar boost 220,000 km

    Thank you

Turbo on its way out. Check exhaust manifold and IC for oil.

If i remember correctly, a guy names monkeymagic, was having same sort of problems and it turned out to be his turbo that was at fault.

search some of his posts and im sure you will find something or another.

        S2 smoking

        Thanks

I also thought it was the turbo but it is rebuild one month ago. After mounting the turbo smok is the same but driving the car one month it´s getting better and the car is not smoking so bad now.
Maybe the turbo is bad but no lack of oil when testing it under rebuild.

I wonder if the turbo oil outlet is blocked, anyone seen that happen?

It’s not smoking visual any more but smells of oil and randomly, not because of hard run or could

Would check breather system for the engine ,this can cause smoking if not ventilated properly , and if you say you smell oil most likely you have a leak thats dripping on the exhaust , rear camshaft seal leaking and going down the back of the engine

Valve stem seals are in good order - presumably?

I had intermittent smoking issues ... it was dodgy original coils. they showed up as misfires under boost above 1 bar. Changed the coils, no more smoking!

The turbo did not crash I just repaired it as I thought It was the reason of the smoke.
Valve sealing. If they are bad it will smoke heavily when starting, no smoke.
Maybe I could see some difference in the colour in inlet of the downpipe.

                        Tnx all for helping

well if its smoking less and less as you drive it, it could be that your intercooler and pipe work had some oil collected within it.. worth a clean and inspection for good measure. like said above also check all breather/pcv pipe's and maybe have a look at flame arrestor too , if its all choked up clean it up, hope it all works out as i had a smoking issue from day one with my s2.
