Don't know why but stumbled across this http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=QHHAlYCTIiQ . Seriously now, I find this extremely dull.. Sure, it's a very capable chariot and has done rather well but isn't one of the main attractions of this type of racing (for me at least and I hope i'm not alone) the spine tingling noise they should produce? Rather like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ok9s8...feature=relmfu or this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JdbXZ...3&feature=plcp . Is evolution removing the drama??

Got to say I am in the same boat Rusty....that car is devastatingly capable and efficient and the teamwork around it/strategy planning is pin sharp BUT...its like watching the TV with mute on.
Was at the WEC at Silverstone last weekend and was a great race and the battle was close with Toyota but for me, endurance racing is all about a 3d experience, sight/smell/sound.
I got the bug for Le Mans in 2003 and have been bitten ever since, blows F1 clean out the paddock IMO...
My top 5 cars over the years are these:
Lola/Aston Martin LMP1 V12
Panoz LMP1
GT1 Corvette
Mazda 787B
Dome Judd
Got to say, nothing punches air out of your lungs like a Panoz at close quarters

Always loved the Corvette at Le Mans, nothing sounded better to me than 7 litres thundering through Arnage and accelerating out, to the extent that I found myself questioning whether I was upporting the Astons or the Vettes.
Always liked the idea of a Z06 7 litre road car for some fun too...Angus

Watch the R18 video again, but this time listen to the birds and the crickets... They're audible even with the car going past...
Most of the car noise is air displacement and tyre noise... Just a smidgen of Induction and exhaust noise...85 WR Urquattro, 85 20vT International liveried RallyRep
