Car Insurance with disgusting treatment, am i over reacting?

Very angry about this, but need to vent, sorry

took up a policy in january, 4th or 5th year in a row with same broker for motor trade policy Crosby Insurance 0191 2130748 (so google can bring this up on a search )

after several attempts and 4 sets of paperwork later afetr them not recieving any of them supposedly i was good to go again.

i asked on monday 27th August to change my address to my parents address in newcastle although i have no delivery address for where the cars are kept down south in Chelmsford.

I recieved a letter in newcastle on saturday the 1st september from my insures:
Dated 28th August saying due to the postal address changing the underwriter does not cover that area and it will be another £300 - £400 to find a new insurer.
And that my existing policy will be canceled on the 31st of August!!

i rand first thing monday and they said they made several attempts to contact me but couldnt, this is lies as my phone is crucial to my work and no messages/emails or anysorts of contact was tried.

they said they were trying to get me quotes for a new policy because the old one had canceled but the insurance database was down and it wouldnt be fixed untill wednesday (how do they know this?? odd isnt it!)

i chased them up today and they said still nothing and they were not willing to email DVLA any covernote as they wouldnt know i will stay with them for the next 21 days!! (after many years of service, really?!)
i told them to cancel the policy as i needed insured by the end of the day and refund me ASAP, they tell me it will be 5-6 weeks for refund, after i paid in sull before they would start the policy!

    how does that work???

seriousley, now no insurance and no money to pay for deposit either, no tax on 2 cars that are sitting rotting away, im absolutley furious

so much so ive took the rest of the afternoon off and off down the gym to find someone that will step in the cage with me,

Ombudsman has been contacted and making official complaint

Anyone had similar troubles after years of loyal service?

    OOOOOOOOOH, nearly forgot!
the reason i had to get quotes was when i took the policy out, i was TPFT and had tool cover upto £40k

i was told on monday im third party only and NO tool cover since january!! Really?!?!

    shocking

Sounds about right... could always take your case to the industry regulator or ombudsman and see what they have to say. Changing address does usually make a difference to the policy price though, so that's not really a surprise. Hope you get it sorted.

I would take your complaint to a very high level within the Insurance comapny you are with ie Chief Executive?? I did this with Admiral and got a positive response within 3 days my sitaution different to yours but one thing for sure is that high level Executives don't want to be getting complaints they would like to settle and sort asap so looks like good customer service But I feel for you matey complete piss take but thats insurance companies for you these days quick to take money but damn slow in paying out

my uncle in sheffield is a car trader and tried last year to get me on his policy so i could drive any car,buy and sell as i wanted etc but as i live in plymouth they deemed it too much for personal use....

that was the end of that

Nothing and I mean nothing surprises me with insurance companies now

The office of fair trading needs to look into the whole industry in my opinion. From kick backs to brokers to referral fees to righting off cars with almost no damage the whole thing is unfair and unjust and I would go as far to say underhand/corrupt.

                    Bring on the revolution!

Corsby Insurance Brokers, Gosforth, Newcastle Upon Tyne, happy to take your money and, well just happy to take your money and not help you basicaly!

maby DVLA should regulate insurance, like tax? LOL ok silly idea

Thats exactly what is needed! yes they are "loosely" regulated by the FSA but it goes no where near far enough because there is fundamental problem: by law you have to have car insurance but the insurance companies only have to operate within a loose, very flexible set of rules which makes there whole operation border on profiteering. Its basically unethical, exactly the same way banks are but a least the banks are being publicly scrutinised now following the financial crisis. Where insurance is concerned we just expect to get shafted and except it as the norm

This will all be sorted out by my government when i form the "UK common sense party"

All insurers drink from the devil's cup of jiz.

That includes Adrian Flux who tried to play games with me earlier this week.
