    Am I paying to much?

    Hey guys

Just thought I would run this past you.

I have the head off the S2 atm as its had work done on it and am just getting the last minute things sorted out. i have dropped the rocker cover and the coil cover off for powder coating. They are going to be gun metal with the raised bits buzzed back and then laquered (Sp?) They have quoted me £50. is this to much do you think? I havent got a clue!

Should look good when all put back together with a cleaner engine bay, all black Samco boost and water hoses, new radiators (long story that Andy G knows about lol) and a chrome boost pipe!

    Cheers
    Chris

I got 5 items powder coated for that price however your having 2 stage work done so I would suggest it's a fair price

plus it won't be a standard colour like red or black etc so you will pay a premium for that. £50 is about right

Hey guys, just got my covers back from the powder coaters.. Quick turnaround.... Helps I guess to know the guys there mind you im not sure that helped with the price

Anyhow, £50 later does anyone have any recommendations on how to clean the grit out of the rocker cover before I put it back on the car and before anyone says, I dont have access to a parts cleaner so this would need to be done at home somehow. I was told not to use my mums dishwasher initially unless sI was planning on buying her a new one tomorrow!

          Thanks
          Chris

oven cleaner works really well at removing the tar/varnish build-up but not sure what it might do to powder coat finish.

I use weheel cleaner or Owen cleaner, both work

You cant destoy powdercoat with any normal degreaser.

Cheers boss. I went down to where my two mates work and the garage boss had a parts cleaner and let me loose with it! I like having mates who all work in the motor trade... Cheaper parts, the knowledge and tools to fix pretty much anything and then the opportunities to learn from and help myself to their machines... Like the parts washer!
