Golf GT TDi 170 - can it be chipped?

    Hi all

Thinking of a Golf GT TDi 170 (170 bhp) (ok don't groan i know how so many of you feel about diesels)... so I wont to know... can these be re-chipped or have the chip re-mapped, in the same way the S2 can be? To get an extra 20% power?

OR are these Golf's already a tweaked version of the standard 138bhp Golf TDi?

I think you are a bit more limited if it's already been chipped, it might cost a lot to actually be of any benefit.

These engines are already at the limit...the heads are weak...turbo's are weak...i wont try to go higher.

It depends if it is the 2.0 TDI or the 1.9 TDI?

If it is the 1.9 then it is already chipped as much as you can go reliably and without killing the clutch.

If it is the standard un-chipped 2.0 CR PD TDI 170. Then it is no problem to chip them to about 200bhp. Although if diong this i would ditch the cat and DPF unit with a complete new exhaust and downpipe and get it mapped out. This will free up the back pressure somewhat and it will run much better with better mpg also.

problem with chipping 170bhp is the restrictive down pipe . i know this because i was the revo dealer for wales and when i first remapped these caused car to go into limp mode after a week or so . revo have got around this problem now, simple solution was to reduce the power t0 190 bhp approx . look at revo web page revotecknic,
but its best to change down pipe and remove dpf . i think the revo chip sorts out the dpf light as well and cat removal then u should see 200 + bhp. the turbo and these are weak and do go around 65k miles

2.0TDI PD 170 ( LEON FR ) only remap and DPF disable. Some clutch problem but not bad... Car comes of other tuning company and costumer looking other " values ".

I looked into this for my GT TDI but need to get rid of the DPF and change downpipe for it to be viable
