    Quattro fun?

Anyone ever got the urge to go find a dirt road/muddy field etc. to tear around in? Being my first real foray into the joys of 4wd, I want somewhere to 'practice' where I haven't got to think about other motorists.

Been looking at green laning and that sort, but I don't think the S2 is quite capable of going that far off road! That being said when I get the chance I'm going to check out a BOAT (byway open to all traffic) near me which is supposed to be fairly easygoing at the start.

Alternatively I guess I have to pay for access to tracks etc. but then it all gets competitive and that's not the reason I want to do this....

So when you guys get the urge to play with some slippery surfaces where do you go? Or should I just wait until the snow comes and find a carpark?

Yep, and when I get that urge, I jump in my mates Suzuki SJ and attempt to kill it down local green lanes (without success, it just wont die)

Taking an S2 off road is not a good idea. I got the "urge" a few years ago with a lovely condition CQ that took me ages to find. It didn't end well. Mine stays firmly on the road. I would advise you to do the same.

Bit like gambling. Only bet with what you can afford to lose.

So that would keep the diff lock engaged over 20mph or whatever the limit is? Interesting, cheers.

As above, when it goes wrong it goes wrong in a big fashion.
