Head Gasket replacement

    Hi guys

Thought I would do this as more of an exercise for me rather than because of the info behind it.

My head gasket had gone on the Avant so I thought I would take some pics along the way as I was doing the work with a mate in my garage. Had a bit of a smoking issue prior to this..

Hope I get the pic uploading thing right!!!

    I got some powdercoating done

And I fitted ARP studs rather than stretch bolts

Had head work done by JP - Full wash, new guides, VSOS, skim etc etc...

All new studs and copper bolts and allen head nuts have been used through out.

Gave the bay a quick clean up to. Will post some more pics when i get further along with putting the thing back together... Just waiting to do the cambelt then put all the rad and front back on.

In the reply click the yellow image button and copy & paste your image link into the pop-up.
Or you can put the tags in manually e.g.

Looks like you have been had at work mate, looking forward to seeing some more pics

I think you have to use an exact link to the image rather than the flickr page

I followed your link for an image, found the page for all sizes, selected '800' , the image loaded up, and then right click view image on the pic which shows the picture on its own, with the full url on the web address bar.

Nice work in the engine btw... I will have to do the same on my avant soon, .. eek!

Cheers boss. Will give it a go in the office tomorrow. Hope it works.

Haha yeh hoping it will look good when it goes back together. It's a daily so I don't want it immaculate but it will be cleaner than the average. I will take a pic of it all done when I get that far. Should look good with all black Samco hoses, new radiators and chrome charge pipe etc good luck when you get round to it bud

Just a quick pic of the car last summer just after I had washed her

So I have cleaned the engine bay up a little bit

As you can see I need to get some black hamerite out...

And again I may need to hamerite the side of the block now its clean

Hahaha, when I get the engine back together and have done the top mounts they will be going on. If you find the for sale thread by Big Lee M I think he has some pics of his emerald green avant on there with graphite wheels on. Alternatively the Polishing Frenchman aka Rob has dark grey rims on his Emerald Green avant... he sent me a pic a while ago. May put up a pic if I can find it...

I have done mine a light Graphite colour from Rover. It looks really good in the sunlight. i did these myself taking the curbing out of them. They arent perfect but they are good. I will get them done properly at some point but wanted to make sure I liked them first.

I hope Rob doesnt mind me putting a pic of his car up.... Hi if you see this Rob..... lol!

Now I have figured out this pic malarkey im gonna be all over it lol!
