My friend bought an Audi S4 with autobox recently, to use as a daily.
His second car is an Audi S4 with a HTA30R and his third is an Audi V8, but that's another story.
Regardless, the MAF was pretty much dead on the car. Fuel consumption 18L/100km and poor running. MAF signal very high on idle... always running rich and late timing.
So we looked in the garage and found some sort of pierburg MAF.
Thought that - ok let's make this work, might as well use it since it's there
So we cut out the original element out of the stock maf, fitted the pierburg element instead.
I modified his ECU the same way I modify the ones for the 500hp cars with the RS4 MAF and we altered the wiring too...
Fire it up - AFR 10 and then 8... car dies...
Okay, re-adjust some things... and everything pretty much fine.
Two hours and some pulls later - car works perfectly with a completely random pierburg MAF from an IVECO lorry
Requested and actual AFR line up dead on.
1.3 bar (to not blow up the auto tranny) and pulls strong. Considering the car was bought for 2000 EUR, there was really no point buying a 350 EUR MAF for it.
So now I got the bone stock auto AAN working on RS2 base software with a random MAF
At the end of the day, all is well. Fuel consumption dropped 4 liters also.
I will make some pics of how the thing looks later.
