Can you fit a manual box or is the slush box linked to the engine ECU?

The MTM gearbox map clearly reduces torque in first gear. Often drove a friends 525hp MTM RS6 and when changing to 2nd gear it actually pulled harder then in first gear. His gearbox was still original after 220k and changing gear nicely. Only had an oil gasket changed.

an MX5 is OK-ish. In the bottom 10 there are a lot more cars I'd consider buying though

I'm not sure it is all that easy, but there was this beast a few years ago (see top of post, tablet cant seem to paste correctly)

Would like to see the looks you get on trackday

The engine has also been used tuned to 650bhp in the Gumpert Apollo I think.

I am working on a such project right now.
            2x GTX3071R and manual box.

So far everything works, even clutch switch. The only problem is getting the ABS to work.
The ABS control unit will need to be replaced I think, as the RS6 one is specific to the RS6 and it won't let itself get coded to manual.

But yes, these things are all interlinked, and it will drive like absolute crap unless you do some serious remapping of the ECU, add in the clutch switch, not to mention fault codes and so on.

Sounds like an impressive project. I think there will be some work out there for your skills if you can help people ditch the slush box.
I am sure with a proper manual box and no DRC the ownership prospect would be very different

If you want a manual box car just buy the RS4...

what I meant was i think there are a lot of RS6 owners out there who wish they could fit a manual box instead of repairing or replacing the auto.

The adapters to fit the box are already available, if you wish to bolt on the 01E.
The one I am working on is using the gearbox from the B7 RS4.

Of course I will see if I can find out how to get the ABS working...
Right now this is the only missing link in the chain.

What is there to tell... it's not done yet.

I work on a lot of funky stuff, not all of it has to do with 2.2T

Would be nice to get a manual box in there and then tune the hell out of the engine. The gearbox has been a worry for most people since day one when i comes to tuning....

Would make a real bruiser of a car. I drove a nearly new B7 RS4 and found the straight line performance pretty dissapointing and B5 is quite old...

I think they should have developed the C5 engine further rather than going for the V10 RS6, which was probably done just for the skae of it. When me and my dad test drove the V10 RS6 it just felt way too heavy, and not any faster until about 90mph. In a drivers republic video it got raped in a straight line by a standard AMG C63 FFS! Biggest dissapointment that car.

It would have made for a faster and lighter car. Seems they are back on track with the new one which is going to use a 4.TT0 V8 as used by Bentley.

Dmitri it will be interesting to hear how the 0A3 RS4 gearbox holds up to the torque, I wonder if it is a strong as the 01E
