    Asking too much??

Hi all.. this is not (ok well it IS ) a shameless way of trying to get some interest in the S2 that I am selling....

I'd welcome your thughts.... I'm asking £3,850 and would take offers...I have 39 watchers on Ebay, it's also on this forum, Pistonheads and Autotrader ... but no-one has rung me up and shown an interest... highest offer so far is £2,500.

I thought somewhere in the £3,500- £4,000 range was viable... I want to sell, but am I asking bonkers money for an old car??

    Hit me!

    Phil

IMHO no. It's a buyer market though and if you need to sell it quick then the price probably needs to be cheap.
There does seem to be people out there willing to pay the right money for the right car, but at the right time. I would hold out for what the car is worth. The same car in Europe would be 8k euros at least. The UK sucks.

That said an average condition ABY Coupe sold for over 4K at my local classic car auction yesterday. Didn't see the car myself but my Father checked it out and said it was nothing special.

Have to agree... & this time of year is not a good one...

If you don't mind me saying... Post up better pictures & more... Use a Photobucket account and paste the HTML code into the HTML section of the ebay listing...

I looked at your ad a few times, i think its correctly priced. There are not many S2s for sale atm and ABY coupe must be the pick of the bunch.
If a decent S2 is too cheap it will end up as a parts list on here.

I will second the comment on the pics. They aren't good. At least have photo's of a clean car and in decent weather conditions. All that ad says to me is 'i'm trying to get as much as I can for a car that means nothing to me'.. Get the basics of selling a car right and someone will offer you a lot nearer the asking price.

Sure, your pics could be better but it seems an honest write up to me and if I was looking for an S2 Coupe and I saw your ad as it was now, I would be calling you straight away. Good colour, looks straight enough, long term ownership and garaged. Mileage not really a worry, you live in a fairly central(ish) part of the country and if everything is as you say it is, the price is about right. As someone else said, buying or selling one of these cars is a PITA. If you want one, there aren't any available and if you are selling, nobody is looking. If you don't need the money/space, hang on for at least £3.5k. Good luck with it all.

Thanks all. Yes points about the photos taken on board... perhaps a mistake to try selling before giving her a thorough wash and brush up. That's working away for you! I'll clean and photo properly this weekend - so expect to see more of the car on here soon.

I agree. I always find spending a good day thoroughly cleaning the car inside & out, door shuts, engine bay etc really pays off literally in the sale price you get for the car

Selling a S2 is not easy as a lot of people don't know what they are and the people that do always go for the cheaper option. Hold out and you'll eventually get somewhere in the region that you want. It took nearly a year to sell mine and it endedd up going back to Germany. Good luck buddy, don't drop the price too quick and hold out, if you drop the price too quick people think there's something wrong or you need the money..oh and you'll alway get a bias view on the cars price, but you have to be realistic and honest with yourself. It is a really nice car but you've got to look around at what's for sale for the same money.

Seems like a fair price. I paid a good bit more for mine, same colour only a couple of months ago although mines has bigger wheels and lower miles. If i was still looking I'd have been in contact as soon as your ad appeared. Serious s2 buyers notice the little details so better photos in a good location will definately help. If i ever come to sell mine i won't sell for much less than what i paid, so hold out for at leat £3500.

Xmas, and bad weather- bad time to sell unless desperate/bargain price. Hold out for the summer.
