Irish Road Tax 2013

Just to cheer you guys up, as of 2013 it will cost us S2 drivers €994 per year for that little piece of paper. Or €1034 for the 7A, might as well scrap the damn thing

I checked a few other models to see what it looks like,

B4 RS4 = €1,391
B5 RS4 = €1,809
B7 RS4 = €1,809
B8 RS4 = €2,350

It just gets more and more ridiculous. Out of curiosity what are the rest of you paying in Euroland? Its ~£220 for you guys in the UK right?

Here is less than 100 eur.But roadtax is also included in petrol price
But we have another thing when importing cars even from EU.For example for a 1994 urs4 tax is 5500 eur.It is not legal,if you sue ROMANIAN financial dep you win and get money back.Even so they still ask it,and they ask it since 2007 or 2008.
But they will get that into road tax afaik.

Paying 1,400€/year just because it's an old car from the UK. They don't care that it's in mint condition, a future classic and other cars are falling to bits and putting out clouds of black smoke and still pay less license than I have to (rant over)

We have something similar too in Malta.

They do resurface roads..it just takes them about 2 years for a 2km stretch of road

I think we are £215 or something similar for a Pre 2001 car. After that it goes on CO2 levels.

Could you not drive a GB car, and come 'home' to GB every now and again to keep it legal?

That's a lot of money. It's around AU$1000 a yr to keep a medium sized car on the road here + optional 3rd party property damage. Fuel is taxed a lot and is currently about $1.60 a litre.

Indeed, car tax in this country really pisses me off.

But when the S2 is off the road for a year, the near €1000 tax savings can buy s2 parts without feeling too much guilt lol

To be fair, our roads are horrible. You get what you pay for.

True, can only think of 5 or 6 stretches of road on the island where you can really go for a blast in the car, rest of the time it's a game of avoiding potholes

Aye, but in Ireland there are no local taxes right? ie: council tax? Swings and roundabouts..
