Does yours sound like a 5 cylinder ?

Is it just me that thinks that our cars don't sound like the beasts on YouTube ?

Interestingly the other night on my iPhone I recorded some footage from my s2 and played it back,it sounded just like the ones you see on the Internet,yet to the naked ear you can't hear it.

If you have ever driven with the tailgate open you will know the sound you get is addictive !

My 3 inch straight through is quite interesting,sounds like a big American v8 in 1st and 2nd yet when you are hard on it sounds like an s1 !

How does yours sound ?

It does sound very different from inside the car however, get someone to drive it and drive right behind it, even at low revs it makes the distinctive 5 cylinder growl!

My mechanic drove mine back and I drove behind it when the clutch went, I loved that I could hear it so distinctively even with the windows up and him driving at low revs (he gave it slight throttle - couldn't resist )

Put a urq exhaust on a 20vt - that gives a 10vt sound, tonk's did it with s2tornado's urq and that sounded brilliant.

Anyone who's been in mine with the valve open would say it sounds like a rally car. Tunnels just make it funnier. It's all about removing damping from the exhaust and getting the inlet to growl a bit - drill the airbox on the cold side to do that

Personally can't complain over my exhaust, it's quiet at low revs..almost can't hear it and quite good to the ear at mid to high revs however in the future when it gets RS2d

Mine sounds like an s1 as its only fitted with one silencer

My b2 Passat - 5cyl 10v has a nice sound, that off-beat rumble is more pronouced, a different sound to my S2 which sounds smoother/quieter

I was overtaken by a hooligan in an s2 recently. No exhaust from the downpipe back.

I only bough the S2 for the noise, but it doesnt sound half as good as my old 10v C/Q.
