That "oot" and "aboot" thing is pure BS started by some Yank that went to Newfoundland. Now those people have an accent (Irish/Scottish/something else).

The rest of Canada has no "excent". I have lived/visited most of the provinces and territories (but not Newfie land) and I have never heard anybody say "oot" or "aboot".

Now take off, eh? You hoser.

I have to say when I was in BC earlier this year I could not really tell a difference between the locals and the yank tourists... to my untrained ear of course.

Exactly. Most of the western US states (think Washington, Oregon, California, etc) have no accent, at least nothing that I can pick out. The problem is many of those people have moved to the western states from the US east or southeast where they definitely do have an "excent".

But isn't this thread about cars?

We didn't get RS2s or RS4s but we did get RS6s (sedans only) and are lining up for some of the newer offerings. (Not that I a) could afford a new one or b) would give up my RS2'd UrS4 for one).

And you were in BC and didn't give me a bell? WTF?

It's interesting that the Ford lineup in Europe is significantly different from their US range. Even the 'same' car can be quite different, and there's models like the Taurus that aren't produced for EU at all, because they're so specifically geared to the US market.

I've found that a lot of Americans don't like getting in what I'd call a 'properly' set up car because they're actually used to the slushy handling that's standard fare. Although, that said, my in-laws Taurus is better than their old Lincoln, which used to roll like a boat.

Nope that has a distinctly Chinese Greely look about it. Nothing like that in the US or Canada (perhaps an older Hyundai is like that)

In Canada we got the older Mk 2 Cortina GTs and Lotus Cortinas. I worked with an English fellow at the University of Saskatchewan who had a Lotus Cortina that he drove as a DD but with the normal single cam GT engine. He "stole" the Lotus engine for a spare/replacement for his Elan coupe project.

So, sometimes, we did get interesting cars.
