Suppose biggest issue would be spares if anything went wrong so you'd be better getting a spares car imported as well.

Did you get the 2litre zetec ford engine?

I just moved to New York last month. Im currently looking for a car for the 30 mile commute to work and have been having a hard time finding anything in my budget. Cars here typically hold their value much better than at home or in the UK. Take a look on craigslist and you will be amused at the junk thats for sale on there for money that it would never see back home.

How much do you reckon it cost you to move out to the states and what are you doing as a job? Was there any problems moving over there or everything straight forward.

Id say altogether with flights and getting set up in accommodation, around 5k euro. Im lucky enough in that I got a one year graduate visa as a result of returning to college. Having previously been a painter and decorator, I graduated with an architecture degree last year. I'm now working as an estimator with a construction company in upstate new York, and so far its going ok.

With some luck I will be able to extend my visa beyond one year as the prospects back home are showing no sign of improvement in the foreseeable future.

                        wtf lol

I've been looking and providing you don't mind travelling you can get some interesting cars for not much money.

Porsche 944 for $1800 buy it now.
Audi s4 v6tt for $2800 buy it now.

Its just a shame the majority of american cars i do not like the look of, they remind me of the above picture of the scorpio or ford mondeo's.

I've got a good idea what I will go for when the times right but that won't be just yet.

I would normally be interested in either of those. However at the moment I think, after just getting here I need to get something reliable that isn't going to eat up a lot of cash on maintenance. On top of that where I currently live I have nowhere to work on a car should the need arise.

Another interesting thing about this place is that mechanics fees seem to be enormous, from what I've heard indy places over here are comparable in cost to main dealer prices at home

Well it's a porsche, shouldn't be too maintenance heavy, depending on the owner I guess

I could be tempted, always fancied owning a 944
