Im thinking of buying a S2 and saw these 2 on fleabay. Does anyone recognise them?
Would you buy one or which one is the most sensible buy??
Or should I forget ebay and buy of a forum member etc?
Of the two, the first car due to the colour, (imo), and the recent remedial works.
Most important is the condition of the body shell, i.e. it wants to be straight and no rust, or bad heavy crash repairs.
Everything else is fixable, having said that, even though if something big does go wrong while it is fixable you won't maybe have budgeted for such an expense.
Read this forum a lot to increase your knowledge of these cars as it will save you money, time, and increase your ability to have a happy ownership period with these I5 engined cars.
Let us know which car you end up buying, irrespective of whether it is one of these or not.
The black one is mine.
It very straight, no damage and its tidy. there are a few age related bits but nothing worth a mention.
there is some exhaust vibration circa 3000rpm, easily sorted if it annoys, it drives perfect aside from that- i have done about 500miles on trade plates.
I have now found a set of S2 dials and found the carbon trim for the dash. The ad states cloth interior as im stealing the leather for another car, im sure someone on here has the rear seat to match - thats the only part needed but it does come with a rear seat. If i can get a day off work, i will MOT it as well. I do not get time to do anything which is why its for sale.
So far ive had a lot of stupid offers and messages, there are 200 watchers. Im sure some of the people i have spoken to would prefer to steal it so would prefer to deal with somone off here.
*As some parts have changed since i did the ad, plus i may as well MOT it i think im going to pull it off ebay, MOT it, fit the white dials ect .. then re advertise it as a car rather than a project.
Mechanicals more important than bodywork surely?
Running gear etc can be fitted into different shells when they rot/break etc, but if you ve not got the gear in the first
place you can't use it-more Quattro cars about than i5 turbo engines
