He would have got better times with a smaller turbo making ~ 550 HP I think as that has way too much lag.

        That's some bobbins driving!
I have done that event at least 10 times. He must have looked a chump when most 200 bhp cars beat him. Go hard or get back on the ferry!

I saw the event in person and true the driving was pretty poor. He had alot of issues with selecting the correct gear although this very cleaverly edited out on the vid. Pretty awesome car though, apparently has 250k in it
Phil short took part the previous year in his white sport, now owned by jay kay.
I want to give it a go this year, need to pull my finger out and get the ur ready.

I'll stick my neck out and jump to Keith's defence........ He was using a sequential gearbox in the IoM for the first time in serious competition and it was not playing ball hence the repeated shifts. As regards him as a driver, to my knowledge he is a former class record holder at Harewood Hill and former class champion over several years. The fella has built and raced several quattros over many years. I have been testing in that car in its current spec and it is f***ing quick.

The sequential issue is sorted as I understand and he'll be back at IoM and several other climbs this year in the S1. I'm visiting him in my S2 on Friday hopefully so will get an update.

Lovely build. I'm sure driving hard or like you stole it is much easier if Audi and sponsors are picking up the tab? Hope he gets the hang of it and we see it being driven with a bit more flow.

Dropped in at Keith's on Friday. The sequential kit that he uses is SQS Racing as in the post http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=63291. The clutch is now sorted and it is now down to the sequential shift mechanism....back at the IoM in April.

Anyway thought i would have a peek at what he is building as a track day car...

BTW Rob, no hard feelings but the fella has won the Midland hill climb and other championships several times....just a few teething troubles with an advanced piece of kit....we'll see how it goes in April.

Just watched this video- even after all these years, the sound of an I5 working hard still makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up.
Anyone know of a link to a video showing, for instance, a properly driven Mk2 Escort (or HSR, Tiger, Mirafiori, GTE, etc) vs Ur back in the day?
I know the stage times are well published, but would love to see Just how much quicker the Ur was, on film

I was there for the whole day lending a hand. I did Marks, and gave guidance to the lads cutting Keiths up. It was one of the best days i have had working on cars!

Sorry but, why does a gear selection issue stop you using all the road? If you have a gear problem why change more than you need to? He changes down before a right hand kink on the sloc hillclimb. Its flat in anything!
No hard feelings but I have done alot more racing than Keith.

Sure on paper this car is more powerful but I think the prospeed s1 would show it the way home! Certainly when it's being driven in anger by a rally driver
