Worth asking some of these members but rough guess going by these is around 1440 euro's or the like.

Acidburn is correct you are gona pay around the €1500 mark. The NCT centre just checks that the spec match the vin number, engine number etc. Rosslare already has a value assigned to the year and model before you go, and you pay 36% of that valuation as VRT. You have no choice to pay, but afterwards you can appeal it on various grounds to get a partial refund if you can prove your case. After you pay VRT you get a receipt with an irish reg.. and you then tax the car in the tax office and they give you a Ownership Cert
What sucks if that you have to go back to the same NCT centre again to NCT it. And you need your Ownership Cert for that.

if you haven't already bought one you could always buy one that's already in the Republic. There was one for sale for ages on donedeal.ie and recently one on here for sale in Donegal.

The cost does go down year by year so i would say anywhere from €1000 to €1400. When i brought mine in they insisted in seeing the car but all they did was check the chassis and engine numbers, and mileage. I believe they have handed that job off to the NCT center now, i can only assume its an attempt to stop young lads importing things like Glanza turbos and registering them as a 1.3 starlet.

As above if they do come up with a ridiculous figure you can appeal it, BUT you have to pay it first, then appeal. We had to do that when we imported the S4, that must have been 10-12 years ago. We had to pay €6,400 and then appeal, had Audi in Belgard road do a valuation which brought it down to ~€2000. My CQ20v was ~2k about 8 years ago, and i paid €1400 for the S2 avant three years ago. At this rate road tax is going to cost more

Your almost certainly going to have to import one, they are very rare cars over here as i can count the ones i know of on my hands. Of those cars i cant see any owners letting go of them..
