    A4 Sat Nav retrofit

    Hi guys,

Time to have a little play with the A4 Avant. A little help on where to go and if anyone has done it before. Done a bit of google searching and dont fancy joining all the forums under the sun to search for info.

    SOOoooooo, the plan -

    1. Retrofit Heated front seats (will need the climate control to go with). Plug and play or a ball ache?
    2. Retrofit sat nav double din unit (not got multifunction steering wheel) with Bluetooth etc.

Car is a 2004 A4 avant 1.9tdi with digital climate control and Symphony double din head unit. Want to do the above soon as going on a road trip.

Car is booked in for a health check and full service then off to remappers next week to get 170 out of it . Currently running on the old A8 sport wheels

Lovely car just needs a touch of refined features......

    Any help would be great.

    Thank you in antivcipation.

I retro fitted the RNS-E to my 03 A6 from symphony II , went pretty well too. I fitted my gps receiver under the rear parcel shelf, then ran the cable down the tunnel to the dash. The other problem I had, was that the Symphony II was a 6 CD Player, so Audi didnt bother installing a CD changer cable, so I had to install one of those too, (I went with a vw type cable as I had a vw phatbox)
I had to get a few things:
An antenna adapter as the RNS-E had a different connector to the symphony.
Adapter cable from ISO to RNS-E , which carried the can bus signal too.
Then VAG-COM to tell the dash that I had sat nav so the directions appeared the display.
I also had to use vag com to adapt the RNS to the rolling circumference of the wheels. Sound more complicated that it was.

Its been about 8 or 9 years so I may have forgotten something.

Yep, also you have to get the correct RNS-E, A4 for A4 , A6-A6 as the face of the RNS-E is different for each model car.
