I've been a little narked lately, maybe I'm finally morphing into the atypical grumpy old man. I've just got to that point where I can't abide criticism from people who are nothing but librarians, full of their own adenoid struck self importance. These twits also, ironically, tend not to own an S2 or a quattro, and usually drive mummy's 1.2 Corsa. I've had several conversations lately where It has been pointed out the hideous errors I've made during ownership, the latest being aimed at the quattro due to its lack of lining kit and Scorpion DTM style back box... This criticism came from a pilchard with a 1.4 Golf Match with 17" wheels and a furry dice... But, you'll be heartened to know he was a true enthusiast, and noted that our Ur had the weak five pot turbo, and his mate had the proper V8 Ur quattro...

I just couldn't cope, and had to walk away.

The younger generation seem to have a fetish for spraying there alloys like green or fusion pink to name a few. To be fitted to a tdi focus or golf or corsa or clio. Just typical boy racer mentality.

Still the S2 will also cause I stir around their buddies after you pick off one by one each of their glorious rides.

Its just painful, it really is. Just dread it when they start, the knowledge they hold is clearly far superior to mine, after all, I've only owned the Ur for 18 years and the S2 for 11, so it stands to reason a pre-pubescent maggot with the ego the size of Hampshire should know everything about the cars and their ownership... He did also state that the 4WD system was the weak part of quattros and always broke, which is why Audi went over the Heldex for all their cars... You really can't fight against that level of misguided stupidity.

It's not just audi's that suffer from this kind of stupidit tho. I used to the into Opel Manta's and my mate had a genuine 400. At a show he was once asked "here mate, how fast does yer capri go?" He thought the guy was trying to wind him up but he was deadly serious. We stopped going to classic shows because we couldn't handle the youngsters and the stupid things they said.

Is it modified then? He asks
Yeh, bodykit n alloys mate
Cool he says, how many bhp? I've got 500 he says
136 standard I replied
Was so funny watching him in my mirrors when we moved off
I kept waiting for him to get boost, then I d slow down
3 times he did that but wouldn't overtake me
Once I'd had enough I pulled over and told him that standard was 136, but mine wasn't standard
and he should look up quattros to widen his knowledge do he didn't look such a Pratt next time

No one can beat the ultimate knowledge of used car salesman though. They annoy me the most. They seem to know lots about scamming money from people, but nothing much about cars. "Oh that. Yeah. Common problem mate. It'll only cost a few pence for you to put right."

A spotty twerp pointed to my S2 grill badge & said "does that mean it's fast or sumfin" fast enough I said, still looking at my s2 he said "is it a 16v?" no mate I said, he then turned to his girl & said "ours is 16v & will be quicker of the mark, cos it's free'er revin" I watched them walk off & get into their vehicle, ignoramus & his girl had a saxo

Talking of idiots, I mentioned a few days ago on a different thread that I live at the top of a hill that, in places, is prob 1in3, and it's tremendous fun driving past rows of 2wd cars abandoned towards the bottom of the hill (Or worse- on the Bus route that this hill opens out onto). One of these abandoned cars (Right at the bottom) was a 6/7 year old Imprezza estate. Have these things got diff locks/ torsen diffs? I just couldn't believe seeing this thing abandoned behind a 3 Series Beemer (Even that 3 got further up the hill than the Scooby)
Another thing that made me chuckle was a bloke walking up the middle of this hill, towards the top, after dark on Monday evening with prob 3" of snow. I guess I was 75 yards behind him when he heard me coming and turned around to look. He carried on walking, probably laughing to himself that here is another 'contender for the championship', who aint gonna make it.
The look on his face when he turned around for another look as I had hit the horn to get the numpty out of my way before he got run down, was a picture. If only I could have got that on Youtube

The main annoyance of mine towards the younger generation of Ricer, Corsa, Saxo owners is their total inability to speak English while on the Forums. This modern "text message" method of synopsis drives me crazy. I used to drive a 1986 Corolla GT Coupe owner a few years back ( I had 2) and I like to keep up to date with the cars but I can't read posts on their Forums, they damage my dopamine levels.
