Get to the dvla with your v5 and tax disk if u can and get the plate on retention, once it's cat b registered or crushed it will be very difficult to get it back. Because the car has to have an mot on the system for the plate to be changed.

Why do they say that ?
Things like this get me sooo mad !! (and it not even my car )
Surely this could be put back on the road or at the very least dare I say it broken.
But to crush it Such a waste of a rare car !

Fight them tooth and nail for what you want and good luck !
For what this cost me so far I could have bought an S2

Get to the dvla with your v5 and the tax disk etc and get your plate on retention. It will be hard to do later as a car has to have an mot on the database to have its plate changed.

Protest the money (that's an insult!!) and protest the cat b. I can't see how that car can be structurally compromised and dangerous to repair if the inner wings and a pillars are straight I dispare at some insurance decisions!! Who are you insured with??

But in the mean time sort your plate, you'd be pissed if u lost it.

Only cat A have to be crushed, it is possible to get a cat B back but it can never go the road again. I managed to get my my cat B Corrado VR6 back after a bit of hassle with my insurer, that was fooked but I wanted to break it.

You can also fight the cat B rating and try and get it down graded to cat C/D if it's been misclassified in the first place, the car remains your property until you agree a settlement with your insurer.

Can you not cancel the claim with the insurance company? ok i know you still end up with a dented car but it wouldn't have a cat against it.

We had a fiesta that was stolen and used in a ramraid, as soon as we made a claim it was in the scrapyard before we had chance to look at it.
We cancelled the claim and took it home.

              Damn that's a real shame
As above fight the classification so you can buy back the salvage at the least.

don't expect miricles from insurance. iirc mine was a b . car got towed to police compound then my mate collected it day after for me whilst I was in the hospital.

mine had ripped the engine form it mounts, smashed front window. removed acc pedal from pedal box, removed drivers seat from floor. crushed clocks into dash so they were a pita to remove. front bumper was gone. 18" bbs RC split in half. oh crushed downpipe flat, snapped both gearbox mounts, snapped drivers side front shaft.

it was the first time in years all the fluids had stayed in too. sods law.

Doesn't look too bad, it could be fixed up if you were willing to spend a fair bit..unless it's bad underneath.

                      Sad sight

Ouch, looks bad and I can understand your insurer writing the car off however I can't see why they wanted to grade it as a cat B as all the damage is cosmetic, at least it appears to be. Did you have to settle on the cat B rating in the end? Really should have been a C if there's no damage to the chassis. Good on you for get the salvage back

It will be repairable, however you will have to weigh up the costs of fixing it against the resale value with it being registered. You'll probably make more from it by breaking it if you're that way inclined. If it gets sold on there's a good chance it will end up in bits!

If I were inclined to keep it, I would definitely take the plunge and fix it as not many good S2 Coupes left around I'm sure!

Not too bad if you ask me. As long as the rad/intercooler and penels aren't bent. I am rebuilding my brothers coupe at the mo that he drove into a wall and creased n/s/f corner. replaced bonnet bumper headlight and genuine wing plus paint has come to about 700. We deliberatly didn't tell the insurance as no one else involved cosmetic damage only and they would defo write it off etc...

Easy for other folk to make suggestions, but I'd love to see something like this fixed- as it seems to have escaped structural damage-
Just think of the satisfaction of 'before' and 'after' photos!!
