VAG throttle body adaptation !

I have a few questions about this and i hope someone on here can fill me in.

on VAG cars with drive by wire throttle body's is it possible to,

1. make ecu forget values by disconecting battery, thus learning new values when reconnected, and adaption completed by turning key to ACC for three minutes

2. can only be done with vag-com, and cannot be made to made to cycle position and learn new values without.

3. can be done with vag-com and or other diagnostic equipment.

i hope the above makes sense and thanks in advance if anyone has info regarding above.

aditional info: audi a3 1.6 2004. throttle body removed for cleaning, "maybe the dirtiest ive ever seen"

i have never actually seen the re set by battery disconnect or ignition method work.
with vcds it takes seconds mate.
the latest version has a drop down list of options save you typing in the group. which for drive by wire is 060 from memory. if its a 1.6 16 valve then the throttle body on this engine does require regular clean.

As was told you need to enter on Basic settings group 060 not with engine running but only with ignition on . And is important not to have DTC stored .

thanks for the info! the car starts and seems to idle smoother. but i also have the rad out so cant test drive.

will work on getting it on a computer tommorow. have a few options, really must invest in vagcom myself soon.

your man is correct clear any codes do adaptation with engine off and don't touch anything. it Will come up adp ok and away you go.
