A month or go I bought a couple of brand new front calipers off ebay on a bit of an impulse.
They were listed as Q5 calipers but when I checked the part numbers they came up as applicable to S8 as well as some later A6s, so I bought them really on the strength of that as they were pretty cheap !
Part numers are: 4H0 615 123 and 124.
Problem is, it seems the only place that can supply the carriers (4H0 615 125) is the stealers and they are 120 pounds each which is far more than I paid for the calipers.
Questions I have are:
1. Can anyone suggest a supplier where I can get the carriers cheaper ?
2. If I do buy some carriers from stealers or elsewhere, is it likely to be a straight forward installation ie, will attachment points align etc
3. If I manage to install them, will I see a significant improvement in braking performance assuming I fit the 356mm discs also.
My car is a '96 ABY Coupe and I'm running 18" rims
I'm unsure at the moment whether to pursue this route any further or not.
As usual, any advice and direction would be greatly appreciated !!
