i had enough of this k7400 turbo, maybe just been unlucky, but my turbo back to rebuild and the guy saying that bronze bearings is gone and there are some marks from metal fragments, how is that possible ? i don't know i done 100 miles on it and had oil change twise in that time with new filters, last time silkolene ester oil. i gues is they fukc up but they don't want to admit it! maybe they left it something inside or machined it wrong, i don't know. anyone expierence sort of similar problems? not nesesary with same turbo, but something similar?

I use the Castrol Edge 10w-60 (API SM - now SN) and is just SUPERB. I have the small k24-7000 a bit trickied but my oil temp does NEVER go beyond 115-125centigrades, even when pushing the engine to the rev limiter with 35-40deg outside. It's pretty expensive but is the best oil and always used on my other turbocharged cars...I simply love it. Is the oil that BMW-M cars require indeed

I've used the exact same 10W60 for over a year in Holland and beware that it is absolutely unsuited for daily use in a moderate or cold climate as it is way to thick. Even with spirited driving I had a hard time pushing it over 90 degrees. Track usage is a different thing altogether. For more info please read to the oil topic.

If your oil does not go over 125C then a 5w40 would be more than enough and much better for the engine and turbo.

hi mate, it gone up to 130 after few hard pushes in 3rd and 4th pretty fast. i'm looking for new centre core now to rebuild my turbo and ordered 10w60 silkolene from opie oils to see if that helps in higher temperatures. i knackered rebuild turbo in less then 200 miles.... i'm gutted! maybe your mapping needs adjusting...?
when you are here in uk i definetly need to see you regarding it, just to make sure that you are happy whith it, then i will be aswell. don't get me wrong i'm not saying that it is something wrong with mapping , but just to make sure it's all 150%
