    Alarm Recommendations/Advice

    Hi People,

Just wondering what Alarm to go for??

I'm looking for a reasonably priced Alarm system for my Avant, something similar to the Clifford I had on my coupe, 2 fobs with a spare button for boot pop or solenoid etc.
Has to activate central locking for keyless entry.
I have no idea what Clifford alarm was on my coupe, it was 10 years ago lol

    Cheers

Although I'm no expert on makes of decent alarms I cannot over emphasise how important it is to wire these things in well, with solder, heat shrink and loom tape. Almost all of the problems I've seen with alarms can be blamed on shoddy installation. I've seen young fellas throw an alarm into a vehicle in 20 mins. In my last three cars it has taken half a day each to get it done, properly.

I have the Sterling version of the Toad alarm, it's a little bit simpler and cheaper. Self fit wasn't too bad but then none of the interior was in the car... NONE of it

I have had three Sigma alarms. Do what they say. All worked faultless for years.

              Tbh I wouldn't bother
Who actually takes any notice of car alarms any more?
No one round here does and a car thief is likely know how disable it anyway
I ve found immobilisers to be better, although they have to be fitted right

Out of interest, does anyone know of any Cat 1 systems which can be sync'd with the OEM Audi flip key remotes?
I would really like to do this and keep some nice OE flip key fobs rather than aftermarket tat

Toad ai6oo,cobra,sigma there all good systems as long as there fitted well.

Can never understand people who say there a waste of time just like house alarms. At the end of the day if you have a car with an alarm and one with out, which car is the scum bag thief going to go for ?

Id also fit a pager to the system and a full steering wheel lock.

Genius Orgasmalarm ha ha. Who the hell listens to alarms? I just ignore them. In fact I never set mine, immob is more important and making sure it is in the garage out of sight. Far more likely that some prat is going to take a wing mirror off or worse.

Not sure what the insurance company would make of my attitude but I would hear the S2 being started up from quite some way away and then my rifle is a mere matter of feet away. Anyone trying to steal my car from the garage would end up having a pretty bad day (followed by me having a pretty bad life in the slammer no doubt, as this country protects scum*******s and sticks fingers up to the people who work for a living)

That is pretty much what I'd like to do for keyless entry, but if I have to have an alarm fob then so be it.

Has anyone got an aftermarket immobiliser with central locking working off an OEM flip key remote?
