Poor show on driving standards.... (mostly)...

    ....This weekend....

Well, what can I say other than explain the cretinatious, crass, stupidity that has afflicted our weekends driving enjoyment and the frustration from a nation of t0ssers...

With the Ur yesterday, we had a lovely run out as a family, but early in the journey we were on the inside lane of a dual carriageway with a 30mph limit, at 30mph... When the Nissan Note, running parallel moved to the inside lane.... As in, turned left, whilst the asre of their car was alongside the drivers door of the Ur. Being slighly on the ball, I jabbled the brake in time, to watch the 'Note' sweep nonchalantly into our lane only several inches off the nose of £2000.00 worth of Ur front bumper....

On a positive note, followed a beautifully driven Ferrari 458 out of Petworth yesterday in the Ur, we made clean progress over the A272 through several overtakes, all drama less.... And the noise.......

Then today, out in the S2, 50 limit, clear view ahead and at 45mph, I spot a car 300yds ahead turning out to join our direction from the right... Its stationary, and remains so.... Until about 200yds, when it turns out, so I gently brake and await it to accelerate up to the 50mph limit.... Oh, not a fo0kin chance... 28mph... and that's it... Albert is in his late seventies.... So, being equipped with a car of adequate performance, I dinks it down to second and executes a blistering full boost overtake, 'whhoop-Bang' and its done, 50mph again and happy days....
oh no, no chance, Albert angrily flashes his lights at the noisy green estate with a family of four and a mad collie in the back and precedes to now, finally. accelerate up to speed and glue himself to the rear bumper....Oh happy days.... Sunday, blo0dy Sunday... Angry post office piddle. Anyway, to cut a cr&p story short, the road leads onto a dual carriageway section up a sweeping set of bends, so I stick to fifty and Albert swings out for the overtake, and I lazily match Albert as he runs out of steam on the rising gradient.... 55mph, 60mph... Still together... Dog barking, kids waving.... Oh, silly me, foot slips....Full boost..... Exit one S2.... Albert dispatched....

Seriously though, standard of driving has been pretty P|sspoor this weekend, it appears the weekenders and the random bikers have lost the knack over the long winter months...

i had an Albert stop in front of me on the island off junction 15 of m40 he saw the traffic waiting to our left so slams on anchors.! i had followed for a mile or so and observed the poor driving leading to this frankly dangerous manoeuvre. as i had planned ahead i calmly went around him which prompted him to drive behind me bleeping the horn.
now I've passed 3 advanced driving courses over the years and was taught to get past hazards.
quite simply there's too many people and cars on this island.

I also got p1223d off with drivers to the point I became the t0553r driving the Audi.
M1 south 70mph in the S2 with cruise set.

Sat in the slow lane and undertook maybe 100 cars between j28 and j24.

Then on the way home from a car meet this evening having "fun" with 2 other S2's

Was so enraged at folks sat in the outside lane with no other cars about. I proceeded to continually flash main beam to maybe a dozen people until they got the hint to move over!
        Audi Nut!!!

Driving standards are terrible, most people seem to take overtakes as personal insults. Had a couple of :corey: tail gate me after I overtook them last week when out in the girlfriends car.

Driving in Australia and NZ the culture is completely different, there are regular overtaking lanes and people go out of their way to let you past. There are just too many small minded ******s who don't know how to drive here.

Is there any wonder why lane hogging is the standard here, when motorway driving isn't required to pass the driving test!

couldnt agree more after a couple of weeks away in France recently driving standards there are soooo much better than here these days (except when the Belgians take to the road at the start of the Easter break and decide to create a '3rd' lane on an dual carriageway autoroute, crazy crazy folk....snow, sleet, rain, dry road.....all the same to them it appears...adopt a late braking, 6ft from the rear of any car what is wrong with some people???

Saturday/Sunday brings out the worst of them, especially the sunday morning church crowd, its best to just stay at home for your own sanity.

As above people who do 25mph, then freak out when you pass them just mystify me. There also the drivers that constantly drift over the white line on B roads which is one of my pet hates, if you cant stay in your lane @30mph you shouldnt be driving.

Not much different in Malta, 6am going to work and people driving in a single lane doing 40km/h . Then I become a tosser and overtake one after another, I need to get to work after all!

And I am guilty of using the inside lane to undertake but I have no other choice

I have had to adopt what I call an 'off-hours' lifestyle and run errands and TCB at nights or early morning mid-weekdays. It has become soo freakin difficult to navigate your way around the SF Bay Area because there's just too many g'damn people living here...and there's constant construction for more! THE most aggravating and unpredictable bunch are the asian drivers...Sorry, it's not a stereotype around here! Dunno why, but they stop when they should go and go when they should stop.

And yes...why do people get so torqued off when you pass them? I don't really care and will get around you if you are going 55mph in the far left 'fast lane' in a posted 65mph speed limit freeway, but the signs say slower traffic keep right...doesn't matter how fast I want to go, you are creating a hazard by not moving over and forcing people to pass on the right.

Where do I start? incorrect lane use, wrong or none existent use of indicators, wrong speed, no safety checks before changing lanes when they do bother to change, using mobiles negotiating busy junctions bad enough in a straight line but please, cars full of kids not in child seats the list is endless.

On a positive note I was out teaching two guys on motorcycles the other day and we got separated by a white van man at a roundabout, a while later he clocked he was between us and he pulled over and waved me past good man

Don't get me started on driving ability. Basically there isn't any for a worryingly high proportion of people with driving licences.

Nothing to do with driving ability, just manners and basic consideration but I was in Sainsburys Car Park, Banbury the other day. I had the S2 which is rare in a car park but I had no choice. I parked miles away from the shop in a space surrounded by nothing other than paint and tarmac. When I get back, a woman and her horrible looking family are unloading what appears to be a lifetimes supply of chavfood into some piece of crud Vauxhall. To make their life easier, they had opened their door fully so it was resting on my wing mirror. NOT happy but I did restrain myself and just said "excuse me, do you mind not doing that" whilst pointing to my wing mirror. No joke, her response was "it's only the wing mirror" Arghghghghghghghgghgh!!!!!!!!

f in ell - welcome to my world - I get this every day, Dave N Dorris in their non descript car who at 55mph won't let a HGV pass in lane 2 because their speedo (un calibrated) tells them that the lorry overtaking them is speeding - 56mph ( calibrated) "no Dorris he is not getting past me, so I will keep him in the middle lane & shake my head at him" - either f off out the way or let me past - if a vehicle thats not towing a trailer on a m-way is'nt doing 70mph, then either the car or the driver is'nt capable of doing 70mph, so p155 off onto the A roads then

Agreed, drivers failing to match their road speed with everyone else is the biggest issue of all nearly. Same reason why cars and pushbikes don't mix. Cars at normal speeds don't match well with cars driven at walking speed. Douchebags!
