Yeah I've thought about saving up for a B5 RS4 I do like them, but saying that Id also like to buy another Mk1 golf and stick a ABY in it Love retro cars!

My S6 (C4) is the best car I have had out of a few:

10V quattro
20v coupe quattro
S2
S4 (B5)
RS4 (B5)

RS4 was my least favourite for some bizarre reason, but I do love my current car, okay it is not as fast as some of the others or handles as well, but it goes when I need it and is big and comfy, maybe more to do with me getting older than the car.

Love the retro feel and it has everything you need and nothing else!

Things that put me off the newer ones basically revolve around no manual gearbox options any more on high performance, if C5 RS6 was manual, I would probably have one of those...

I've owned 3 coupe s2s two years ago and one now as a classic, but it's not about the speed thing for me, it's the look of the coupe, it still doesn't look out of place with modern cars imo, and the comfort and feel of the car, build quality were etc... The weight of the car , and cruising in it etc,

I know it in standard form isn't quick nowadays when you have new 206gtis that have 200horses and weight as much as a bake bean tin ! But it's much more than that ....

I've had no end of people get in the S2 and comment on the smell. I don't mean a damp coupe! But the smell of the leather and older plastics...they are retro now whether we like it or not

Mine smells of a mixture of fresh leather and fuel. It seems to get stronger with time. That smell is addictive and more than welcoming when you lower yourself in.

I think is better to have a little fuel smell inside the car and drive, than smell new plastic and call for RAC because the computer wich controls the lights dosint comunicate with the dashboard computer wich dosint comunicate with engine computer....soo the engine dosint start...etc...
Even my car had alot of problems...she never...never let me down in such way i cannot drive her home.
From my point of view...this is the differences between new and....so called OLD cars.
I will never buy from my money a car newer than 1996...

MMmmmmm that smell, I thought it was just my car. Love the smell, the missus thinks I'm mental when I get in and take a deep breath.

After it been off the road for a year it just smells even better now

And to the new car thing, my brother swears by his Chevrolet Captiva, 10,000 kilometres on the clock it needed: Sump repair/replace as it was leaking oil @4,000 kilometres, new shock absorbers at the front, fuel pump switch or something of the sort and the car often lost power. Rubbish cars not to mention the horrid interior

I also love the smell of these cars. Mine seems to have lost a bit of the natural smell, either that or I'm just so used to it I don't notice as much.

My parents always had Peugeot 405 and 406s which were very reliable motors. They're on their second 407 and both have needed clutches after less than 25k miles.

407. A friend has one. He said its the most unreliable car he has ever owned. Rear shocks. Clutch, injectors pas pumpissues. Electric window failures. drinks oil and i mean drinks it.Etc etc.
The French would call it marde. If that's the correct spelling.
Someone commented on the smell of my coupe the other day. I think he meant it in a positive way. At least its not damp anymore.
