Learnt my lesson with cheap tyres on a B5 quattro

So, I ran right into a gutter at about 30km/h in the wet when going around a roundabout. It's so damn annoying how the damn thing understeered off throttle at such low speed. I knew the tyres weren't the best, but a tyre that gives way so easily under wet conditions should not be sold IMO. They are only 6 months old and I had no alignment or any other suspension issues.

I'm hoping I haven't got major damage. The wheel/strut assembly has been bent backward and is rubbing on the body. I can't imagine any structual damage being done, but I guess I'll find out once I strip it down in the morning

I had cheapo tyres on my wrx impreza when I first bought it, complained to the dealer and he changed them, but wasn't until I gave it the beans on the way to changing them that I realised how bad they were- coming onto dual carriageway from slip road straight into fast lane with full four wheel drift, couldn't get power down from standing start without going sideways!
I put yokos on after that and was much better
I never buy cheap tyres now!

Who admits to making those, I can't make out the name on the side walls. A lot of people reckon if it's black and round it will do, but my experience of cheap tires is similar. A good branded part worn that I have inspected before fitting is way better...

I can't remember the brand, bit it's a cheap n nasty that the aholes at the tyre place fooled me into buying them, saying they were a good tyre. I later checked and they were the only distributor in Australia for them, makes sense now.

I don't trust used tyres either, "oh yes mate it's a good tyre" but they fail to mention puncture repairs!

A quality trusted brand used tyre is a lot better than a new piece of **** tyre. These behaved like they were bald, and there's only 10k on them.

If you look at the above picture you can make out one of the arms doesn't look like it is attatched at the top of the picture, looks like you've just popped one of the ball joints. Hope its something as simple as that.

Btw in the uk, never by sunny tyres (use google to find reviews) or triangles (they live up to the name)

my wheels had sunny tires on them..... worts tyre ever
at first they seemed fine (south california, not much rain), they were laud
few weeks later Ive got into rain.....I almost rear ended a car with like 30mph.
I could out maneuver the situation I was very lucky and the guy driving behind me had good reflexes to dodge me sliding all around.
Rumors said sunny tires are made from plastic not rubber. Any used, bald tires are better then sunny.

                  Brutal, sorry to see!

For rain, I reckon the Dunlop Direzza Sports are about the best you can buy.

I had Sunny's on the rear of my cq type 85 and Toyo's on the front, made it oversteer like mad in the wet when giving it some.

better to buy a decent part-worn performance tyre than a brand new Wing Lipkang Ditchfinder II

yup, had sunny's before, quality ditchfinders. Just google the reviews on them and see what others recommend. They should be outlawed.

That sucks, hope the damage isnt too bad. When i bought my cq20v it came with wanli tyres, supposedly a budget brand of yokohamas as the thread pattern looked identical. Never knew just how **** they were until i replaced them with Pirelli Rossos. No exaggeration i had more grip in the wet than the wanli's had in the dry. My second experience was buying a Seat Leon TDi for my mum, it had two remoulds on the back with a thread pattern that looked like a crossply from the 60's. 20mph into a wet roundabout felt like somebody pulled the handbrake, no lateral grip whatsoever. Tyres that bad should be illegal IMO.

falken are not much better. Both tyres like this all the way around, inside and outside sidewalls.

Yes! That reminds me I had a falcon do that too! Was only half worn but the inside side wall was bulges all over. Lucky I caught it before it let go.....
