laptop based diagnostic software, which one ?

looking for a good laptop based OBD software if anyone has any suggestions ?

i have been borrowing a friends but seem to be getting quite a bit of work now outside the VAG scene so its time to invest,

this is what ive been using :

Gendan EngineCheck Pro Engine Diagnostics USB package - only £99.95 including VAT & UK delivery!

found it very usefull with a good amount of live data and a little logging of sorts

not looking for dealership spec gear, just one that covers all the popular makes.

    all suggestions welcome

I have seen this recommended: http://www.easysync-ltd.com/product/520/ds1m12.html

            I have this one myself
The most popular 100 Mhz oscilloscope and 2 channel digital oscilloscope as well as the first usb digital oscilloscopes all made for basic visualization by cost conscious engineers

Which can also be connected by usb.

I also use a Saleae logic analyser
Saleae Logic analyzers capture up to 16 digital channels at 500 MS/s. Compact, USB-powered, and paired with the free Logic 2 software.

Just seen there you bought the Autocom off ebay, its a cloned copy obviously at that price so whatever you do, disconnect all internet connections when in use, and install the software onto a USB stick rather than the hard drive.

They can try to update themselves automatically, and when they do, the serial number will be rendered useless and the Autocom will not work.

                Same applies for all clones.

Feel free to PM me for info

Have had a few clones come and go, some work great and some are a gamble.
I mostly use a genuine Rosstech VCDS but you will find Autocom good, maybe a little hard to use at first,

If you need any specific machines, shoot me a PM and I will give you contact details
                    Thanks
