    Sub and amp wiring

Hey guys need some audio advice on where the wires go. It's been such a long time since I did any of this.

So I have wired in the earth and power to the Amp and run the phono cable with the memory wire from the head unit to the amp.

Am I right that the thin blue remote wire plugs into the blue and white remote control wire in the head unit harness? If so why does the amp remain on when I take the front off the head unit and remove the keys from the ignition?

This is in my t4 btw. It all works too up until turning it off as I don't want it to drain my battery

You need the manual for your head unit and make sure you wire the "on" signal for the amp to the "aerial" or "power amp" output from your head unit.... HTH

Cheers guys. In playing with it I have had smoke from the amp and now it powers but doesn't produce sound lol. It's not been a good few days for me. Just got the timing belt back on the van and the diesel pump is squirting fuel out so it needs to all come apart for a pump rebuild. Not my luck. But on the plus point I have had a replacement turbo turn up for the s2

You have now blown the sound output stages on your amplifier !
Unless this is a very high end unit or you know an electronics buddy this is now scrap I'm afraid ! The cost of replacement components + labour outweighs the value.
Found this out years ago when I've had a few BIG amps blow

Blue wire is a remote switching wire that should go from amp to head unit corresponding blue wire or failing that a switched live. Head unit off, amp off or you WILL get current drain.

              HTH.
For what this cost me so far I could have bought an S2

Haha yeh I thought it was scrap. I pulled it out of the box from the loft where I have stored it for years. I brought it cheap brand new and never used it until now and I have bust it in 5 mins flat lol. Will be keeping my eyes open for a cheap used one working. Annoying seeing as I had just got it all working. Will check my other spare amps to see if any work but haven't got a clue due to the length of time they have sat unused. Oh the junk I kept from my youth!
