Plenty of times. But then I think f**k it, it'll be worth it once it's done and you won't have that 'what have I done' feeling while looking at youtube videos of other S2's if you were to get rid of it

Trouble is that a lot of people make their project a 5 year issue and by the time its finished they are already bored with it and eventually sell it on.

Ideally you make it happen quickly and properly, pay something extra and enjoy it. I have done now 125K kms on mine with 2 engine rebuilds(one when first bought) and multiple changes and things done to it. But I drive it everyday and enjoy every minute of it

I got to that point with a lot of my cars and around the same time. Most of the issues I was having were to do with the amount I was spending. Now I'm on the wrong side of the world and I miss being able to work on those projects a lot. I could probably have bought a house outright by now if it wasn't for cars, as it is I have almost nothing to show for the years I've spent working other than some cars which never all work at the same time!

I felt a bit like this earlier in the year when the problems seemed endless, all running well now though, had some fun with a TT-RS on Saturday which made it all worth it.

I suppose the trick is to do it bit by bit and not take on too much in one go, that way you can still enjoy the car in between banging you head against the wall. Oh and do your research extensively so you don't buy/get sold the wrong things which I've done more times than I can count.

I have found the secret is break it down into manageable pieces, know what you are going to do and how you are going to do it before you start, buy all the parts you need before you start, and the final piece of advice I can offer is try and do a little something on it everyday, however small, so you keep momentum up and feel like you are getting somewhere

lol thanks , i feel like its the never ending story and that all my spare time and cash goes on it , It is quite close to being drivable (still lots of jobs) so the last couple of weeks its been neglected, especially as i have had aggravation with the wheels for it , i have 4 sets now and each has its own issue - including a set i had to complain extensively about through ebay due to almost being ripped off

I dont even know where to begin...... from spending what seems like a fortune and having a paintless shell and a small pile of shiny parts to show for it, scrimping and scraping to buy over priced secondhand parts, buying the wrong things at the wrong time and making huge losses on unwanted parts, spending too much on rent for a unit every month to keep the piece of chit which should be going towards the project Its an emotional roller coaster to say the least......... I would be surprised if anyone has put more into a project and had so little out it than me, but i just stay positive, i mean come on what else am i going to waste my money on??????
