    WooHoo it passed

My '94 Coupe 16v went in for it's MOT retest today after failing on a duff headlight reflector & loose power steering belt last week & passed!!!

Major respect due to djh on here for going out of his way to help with the light which included my wife removing the money I had left out for him. It's good to know that when you're in a fix there are still people around who will go the extra mile.

The previous and only other owner had always taken the car to garages for any work so the jack had never been used which was nice & squeaky for the neighbours at 8am on Saturday morning!! This was followed by lots of WD40 & half an hour of head scratching trying to find out why I couldn't get the pump to move even though I'd loosened the 4 bolts. Turns out I'd missed the final crucial bolt & undone one that didn't need to be.

However, happy days in the end, only 1 small scuff on 1 knuckle and no swearing!!!

      Glad to hear it passed

as above, i'd refrain from using a audi scissor jack as they are prone to failure like most scissor jacks.

Unfortunately my trolley jack is shafted so had no choice. However, I did some very nifty wheel & axle stand work so was safe enough this time. A new trolley jack is on the shopping list now though! God help if anyone had seen when I used to work under my old Beetle.

Hahaha Sounds like me. I have never used anything but a trolley jack on the audis. When I had a beetle I used to use scissor jacks all the time as didnt know what a trolley jack was. I remember pulling an engine out of the beetle with it on a scissor jack... looking back that was quite possibly a very dangerous move!
