Well I won't say no to that. Thank you for the kind donation. Will send you a pm shortly.
Andy, it's not to bad tbh, just ruined the paint so it won't buff out and cracked the rear light a bit. Nothing's moved, out of line or got holes in... Really lucky it was only paint damage really
So it's all been inspected by the assessor and approved to be done and the other guys insurance have accepted the claim so I'm just waiting for the paint shop I want to use to be set up on the system then I can get the work done. Happy ending really. Just gotta figure out where I'm getting the rear light from (andy, check your fb account please)
Bad driving has stuff all to do with age. What grips me is the fact he knew what he had done and moved to other side of car park. A mistake is a mistake so bloody well rectify it. The world is full of bad drivers and we live on an over crowded small rock.
My Mrs took the wing mirror off a yaris 2 months back. She stopped and left details on the other car.
The owner wouldn't answer my phone calls or anything just insisted on going through insurance.
I was offering to get a brand new mirror from Toyota and change the 3 screws to fit it.
I explained the part was 171 quid and i could fit it at her house in 10 mins. No need for hire cars excess premium hikes etc. She was not having it. Long story short my insurance company called her and told her to grow up as i was being reasonable and a claim for that amount was ridiculous.
So eventually 2 days later i fitted her mirror and apologisee for my wifes error.
She didn't even say thank you.
Why do people hide behind their insurance. Most of the time it can be sorted amicably without rushing up insurance premiums. We all know that most insurance repair costs are over inflated bed on the cost of hire cars and fake whip lash claims after a little nudge at 10 mph . At the end of the day the insurer at fault needs to recover their loss so they push up everyones premium etc.
Ill get off my soap box now and i hope the s2 gets sorted soon.
OTotally agree with the above. I am annoyed he wanted to go through the insurance to get it solved as I was offering to get it done on the cheap through a guy I know who paints cars for a living and quoted me a very reasonable price. I then went to an insurance approved repair centre for a quote who came in at double the price for the paint and said they would only do it if the car had a new bumper fitted too and there is naff all wrong with the bumper he caught. This is what pushes all the premiums up and as you say the insurance push everyone elses premiums up to recover this cost. Needless to say im standing strong on getting my guy to do the paint work for me. Im just really annoyed he wanted to go through the insurance when I could have saved him a small fortune for this and you are right, he should never have driven off but should have waited for me in the spot he caused the accident so I could see how he did it as for the life of me I still dont know why or how he managed it considering its a 1 way car park (He blatantly wasnt following it hence the damage) He should definately not still be driving is all i can say!
However, what has the drivers age got to do with it? What if it was a dishonest 18/25/35/45/55 year old person that's a bit accident prone? Ban everyone?
Chris the same thing drives me BONKERS here in the states. Alot of old people drive its this whole older independence thing, then all over the news we hear about them having strokes or heart attacks on the road lot of 70 year olds dont retake driving tests or vision test once they get there medical prescription. I hope everything gets all sorted out! Jab the insurer get new TURBO money!
