That's bloody awful news Michael, at least you are unscathed from the accident. I hope you get it all settled to your satisfaction with the minimum of stress and hassle.

I can't thank everyone enough for all the advice and support. You guys are fantastic.

The damage to the left side of my car starts from just in front of the back wheel. This surely shows how far past i was when he pulled out. Fortunately my speed was less than 60 or i hate to think where i would have ended up.

Damage: back left wheel moves side to side (wishbone or something), left panels after back wheel scraped, back bumper, exhaust crushed, rear wing cracked, rear panel pushed in, right side above back wheel has been pushed in (this looks unrepairabe), drivers door won't shut, front right wing totalled, front bumper hanging off, damaged intercooler, bonnet damaged. It won't start but turns over, but the recovery guy managed to move it by starting it in gear.

Fortunately i am with the AA and they came out so is now off the road in a yard.

That's a write off by insurance value on the car and repair costs unfortunately

Insurance companies are on this forum and others so I'd keep the details to yourself. As for changing parts and assessors everything on the Internet is open to the feelers of Insurance companies and their agents nowadays

Unfortunately it definitely sounds like a write-off from your description
I seriously recommend trying to get it recovered to your house mate, if it's just in some yard somewhere it is in danger of being removed for salvage as soon as the insurance have inspected it - you won't have any control over that as the storage yard will want shot of it asap.

Very sorry to read about all this. Seems quite a bit of damage. For the costs it may be that getting a used s2 and transplanting your good stuff to the new one would be the way to go if I were you.

Sounds like you would be best selling or breaking it to top up whatever the insurance give you.

                  Whos yard is it in?

So exactly 3 weeks on from one of the worst days of my life and i'm missing the S2 a lot!

Insurance company have been fantastic throughout... its not until something like this happens that you think a few hundred quid a year is well worth it. After a miserable first offer which might of bought me a pushbike, i managed to convince them that my car was worth a lot more and their next offer was close enough to what i paid for it.

The Golf driver admitted he was at fault and i keep my no claims. I managed to keep the car as well so whats next...

As far as i know a Cat C can be put back on the road, so do i or don't i...?

It's good to hear that the claim is progressing relatively pain free

Personally, I'd break it and use the funds from the insurance and sale of parts to buy a straight S2 rather than flinging what would be a lot of money at a CAT C.

Photos?, but if back passenger side is damaged, and driver's is out of alignment, I'd buy another one, and keep the first one for spares. If you can't keep it because of space restrictions, break it and use the funds to buy an even better S2, or add to the funds and give yourself the impetus to buy an RS2?

This would give a silver lining to the original cloud.

Just my take on your present position, best wishes.

As above, would be worth to break and buy another S2. You won't find a much better example on sale for a while than this one I'd like to think

                            Thanks chaps

I'm going to ask around a few places about repair, but i will probably end up breaking/selling on. The first week or so i couldn't see myself in another S2 and thought about what other options were out there.

Then I made up my list of cars i actually want... S2 Coupe, S2 Avant

Good to hear they gave you back nearly what you payed for it plus getting to keep the car, again as said above break it, recoup some more cash and with the money from insurance get yourself another S2 or like macspring said aim to get an RS2.

You need to fix it, and then VIC check which is about £50. It will always be a cat c though. Quarter will be expensive to fix properly.

As you have the money from the insurance the most sensible option would probably be to break it, or sell on, and you should have the money to buy a nice one.

I bought my S2 with as a cat c with a lot of damage, which suited me to fix myself cheaply, but it will never be a nice car, it is functional/cheap which suits me.
