    Spot blast gun

anyone got or used one of these? Considering one to clean up some small rust patches. Do they work and how much mess do they make?

My boss has one with the recycling bag, his garage floor is covered in grit.

I saw somebody do a sensible looking setup on a big tarpaulin with the sides roped up to catch everything.

I think that's all I need to know
anyway I've bought one now, they're only cheap will see how it goes. If I do it outside using soda at least it is soluble so the rain will clean up after me

I bought one that has a recycling bag, it's still messy though if you don't hold the nozzle hard up agiainst the item you're blasting. My compressor struggles to keep up, but it does work ok.

I just got a hold of an enclosed Bead Blaster, sand blaster and a little spot blaster.

I have a feeling I'll be taking apart the car soon to get it all looking nice and purdy

I do a small bit of blasting, Only use sand for very heavy work (chassis), best stuff to use is glass beads. You can use these on flat panels and they will not warp it. Ideal for small parts too.

If using outside, tie up a tarpaulin around the car to catch most of the sand. Then use a household sieve to separate the beads from the rust/dirt and reuse again and again. One bag of 25kg glass beads is 5.50 euro here and if gathered up carefully, you should be able to re-use the 25kg at least 20 times over. Make sure to cover up your face and arms
