    Audi Parts Direct

Just stumbled open this from a link at the local dealers website. Whilst bragging about the "Concept" (the glass/chrome/coffee machine/wifi etc) it seems that this particular dealership forgot to incorporate a dedicated spares counter!
Basically it looks like you can order bits and get them delivered without leaving the house which is ideal for me presently! I told the guy who I dealt with that I would supply the correct p/n's due to the age of the vehicles and my knowledge and he was quite happy with that. He has offered to supply factory images in the future to help if necessary.
So I have taken the plunge and ordered a part which I know Audi Tradition was selling reasonably cheaply but the carriage is excessive for the odd part from them. He said if its ordered and paid for before 3.30PM then he can get it next day and post it out 1st class. So will monitor this and see what happens. They take PP payments or cards over the phone.
So this might be an alternative if like me you do not live near any civilisation but need those pesky odd things that are cheap to purchase but would need several trips to order/collect.
I'll report back and see what the service is like. So far so good and much less frustrating than trying to explain what an S2 is!

    Update!
Well the part I ordered turned up within the timescale specified so cannot complain about that. Would have taken two trips (at least 5L of fuel) and hours of my time otherwise.
Only grip is no breakdown of the item cost. However I was told at the outset what the cost was delivered. If I deduct the postage I doubt whether its much of a premium over what I would have paid.
Seems to be operated out of Cardiff by Mon Motors.

Just been informed that a part which was available from the Dealership and indeed ordered has subsequently been made NLA within the space of a few weeks! I noticed when I ordered it that it was available through Audi Tradition.
It does appear that there is some ongoing process of consigning essential but inexpensive parts for the Heritage Models into the punitive clutches of Audi Tradition.
So those members attending ADI should collar someone in the undoubtedly lavish corperate travelling circus that attends such events that its no good banging on about the heritage of Audi if there is not a structure within the UK to support the loyal following that underpins the brand!
Also means we are gong to need a section where members can register an interest in parts from AT and organise cost effective orders. I think I can recall at least two other people who needed stuff but its difficult to keep track of who they were!
This is not a criticism of Audi Parts Direct. They have been courteous and helpful.

Good call. I've just emailed them myself. Hopefully they're ok supplying just a few small fixings too.
