Could you be more explicite?I tought it is me that feels aby chasis different compared to 3b.When i got the 3b on the lifter if one of the 4 lifting points of the lifter is not perfect leveled with other 3 body gets torsioned and dor hard to open.Aby no problem.

It is not 3B/ABY issue. All late production coupes (even n/a fwd-s) have more metal in the body compared to the early ones. What I have seen: extra reinforcement panels under front inner wings, more metal in front longerons, extra panels between rear fender, inner arch and rear strut.

Yeah well I think I'll keep my eye out on ABYs then guys Few S2s on this website. http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/list/108/s2/ The only decent one seems to be the ABY one going for 5.5k? There's one going for £3000 but was a cat C and 180,000 miles on the clock, hmm...

the 3B is officially faster than the ABY, that's using audi's own data.
the gearing ratio is better for fast driving on the 3B. the ABY sixth gear is just for cruising really, i can barely remember the last time i used mine. maybe if you do a lot of motorway miles ABY is better.
to me the 3B always seems more aggressive.

id still have aby. easier tune to get real aggression from it.

in the s2 world the 3b doen't really look an s2 for me if you know what I mean. wheels are poor too.

i prefer the 16" 5 spoke over the 16' avus.
where audi went wrong is not making an 18" version of the 5 spoke. that wheel would be the number one.

you've got to compare each car on it's merit. shabby is shabby and sorted is sorted.
one of my s2's is a 440BHP ABY. the 3B is still more fun to drive.
stuff like indicators and wheels can be changed in minutes. most people with ABY's don't even run the 16" avus anyway.

Couldn't agree more about the wheels. Anyhow, very few people have standard rims, so it is a stupid argument. Funny how people who own both tend to favour the 3B as a drivers car. Also funny how ABY owners want a SM flywheel. Position of the battery is immaterial from a handling point of view as in comparison to modern cars, the S2 is not that great really. The build quality of both is what gives them their longevity. Buy on condition and history and enjoy it but by refusing to look at one or the other, you are depriving yourself of a better chance of finding a good one. That would be sad.

Indeed. Best to find a mint car, like the blue 3B currently for sale on the forum for under £3k.
You can add elipsoids, 6spd box & linkage etc, ECU pinswap with TFSi coils for all of about £800-1000 - now that is far better value for money than an equivalent condition ABY in my opinion.

I literally cannot fathom how that has not sold. It is also a beautiful colour.

Me neither, if it's still there at the end of this month when I'm paid I'm going to take a look at it.

Another vote for 3B wheels, Much prefer the look of them to the Avus, I'd want them in 7.5" X 17" ideally but can live with 7" X 16"'s.

                              lots of fair comments.

gotta say the lighter b3 shell on the saloon I have is much nicer to drive than the aby was from a feel prospective but that was a coupe also which is best described a wobbly.

this type of thread is whats needed for new owners. less bias subjective comments than on most forums.

wheel wise fair point I ran 17" bbs split rims from day 0 of having my s2. I have the wheels before the car. then 18" bbs.....

Like Kit says, I think the 3B wheels are best out of the two versions.... I had a set redone 2 years ago and havent used them for the last 18 months. And No they arent for sale If only they did them in a 17"
