    Garage/Workshop to rent in Bristol

Gauging if they're is any interest in this as its just an idea at the moment that I've had kicking around in my head a while.
I've always liked the idea of renting a large lockup were we have multiple users in there, pooling resources and sharing knowledge with like minded car enthusiasts
One of the main reasons for me wanting to break my coupe is the fact that unlike most of you on here I do not have a driveway let alone a garage to work on the car
Its very frustrating when the jobs 'to do' on my car are racking up and being a daily I have no-where to rectify them !
Cutting to the chase, I was chatting to a neighbour (owns a Skyline GT something) tonight who has informed me of a sizeable (10 cars+) lockup that used to belong to a guy that serviced ice cream vans !
Rent is approx. £400 a month (have to confirm this)
Very secure with alarm/roller doors and metal gateway in a low risk (Brislington) area.
My neighbour said he'd be in as he wants to store his Skyline in the winter
    So that's two of us
Obviously only viable to Bristol folk but is this viable or just a pipe dream
For what this cost me so far I could have bought an S2

Its a very good idea but there would need to be some discussions over payment of rent and security of vehicles and tools. It's the sort of thing that retro rides have championed and they have a lockup in Bristol that their members use.

I would be interested if rent was right and sensible terms could be agreed by all parties

yup, security and insurance will be the main issues.
I have to say if there was an option of sharing a good sized unit in this area I would be up for it

Remember business rates too - Although you will only be using the unit / lock up for storing / tinkering with your own cars the local council don't give two hoots.

If the size of the unit / lock up is below the rates size then you may get away with it.

in relation to rates you can set up a business which generates a minuscule turnover i.e tool hire for tenants and then apply for a small business rate reduction.

I only wish our local Council would say that..

Council: You have 8,000sq ft of indoor space

Me: Yes I have my cars in there that I tinker with.

Council: that's brilliant and we wish you the best of luck BUT call it £1000 per month in rates.

Me: I only pay £700 a month in rent and don't run a business.

Council: Oh that's a real shame but we don't pity no one, so £1000 a month or debt collectors will come and remove your cars.

            Me: what!! Both my cars??

Council: yes and then still make you pay too with the help of the of the courts.

Me: Damn!! Jumped in the ride and

              educated stupidity

they have decided to aid an economic recovery and a resurgence in manufacturing not by restricting imports but ream anyone with pot to piss in. this will allow them to refinance the nanny state put more fluoride in the water to carry on building a nation of drones.

we will in time be able to educate the depleted gene pool
